Why was he playing a different character?

That bit was kinda cute.

Otherwise, outside of some "so bad it comes back around to being great" moments scattered here and there, [frick] this movie and the horse it rode in on.

It was strange that he was in this movie and not playing the character he did in the fourth film. We assumed since he was in this movie that he was playing the Joshua Joyce character and no one in the production said that wasn't the case and then it comes out and he isn't. Sort of like the fact Tyresse didn't appear in this movie when he was announced with the Lennox character (He had another movie to shoot).

Maybe the Joyce character was meant to appear in an earlier draft of the film but he got written out and they already signed Stanley Tucci on board so they cast him in another role. Who knows?

His part was horrible, just like the whole movie.

And having the same actor playing a different character was a dumb decision.

I just downloaded it like the outlaw I am, and I'm gonna watch it tomorrow night and see if it's kinda shit, shit, or absolute shit. I'm hoping it'll at least look amazing, that's the only thing I can ask of a Transformers movie, and it usually does. Maybe they can send their VFX company to Patty Jenkins.

@Asturgis -

It peaked early on in ROTF suprisingly

Since then the CGI has been less convincing.
