TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION Producer On A G.I. JOE Crossover

Transformers: Age of Extinction producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura on the chances of the franchise crossing over with G.I. Joe. "I know a lot of the fans feel that way and I don't think they're wrong."

Transformers: Age of Extinction is poised to open next weekend, and box office analysts are predicting, massive box office numbers. Specifically, the film looks poised to open for a $100 M USD weekend! MTV recently cornered the film's producer, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, and asked him about why the time was right to introduce the DinoBots, the possibility of a G.I. Joe crossover and more.
Di Bonaventura on a Transformers/G.I. Joe mash-up movie. No, we haven't spent a moment on it. I know they did it in the comic books, but I think the reality that we're looking at is...it's hard enough to figure out how to do it alone and [then] trying to figure out how to do it together...I don't think that it's as organic as people think. I know a lot of the fans feel that way and I don't think they're wrong. I find it a harder thing to do, think about trying to combine the schedules of all the different people. So, that alone will probably stop us.

I'd honestly love to see a crossover, use GI Joe human characters instead of creating fillers with so BSbback story. Right now, if the plot points are true then the current Transformer movie sets a cross over perfrctly. IMO.

Transformers is fine, but they need to get G.I.Joe right first. Start over from scratch.

How about adding Ninja Turtles to that as well? You know, being that all three franchises have gone to shit.

Its easy. Replace the lame ass marines that Bay always seems to need and replace them with Joes. Marvel can do Avengers but the GI Joe team is difficult to crossover with cgi robots?

God, the G.I. Joe movies really suck!

I was right about to comment what TheBaroness said.

Remove the marines...add the Joe's...and done.

Well, while I do love a lot of crossovers this would be a combination of two franchises that a) I don't care about the least and that b) between the two of them so far managed to make ONE movie out of five somewhat enjoyable (Transformers).

So as far as I'm concerned: do whatever you like with the franchises! d(^_^)

I think people will only take this cross-over seriously IF Disney buy Hasbro...calling it...Bob Iger's last conquest before stepping down as Chairman.

I commented about a GI JOE crossover yesterday in a Transformers article, cool if it ever happens!

Hell, they don't need a full crossover at first, like a cameo of General Hawk in the next Transformer flick will do and some Easter Eggs!!!

Can even have ties to BATTLESHIP too!

A Hasbro-verse! ;P

Cool find @ Mark :thumbs.

What's not organic?

It's like chocolate and peanut butter. It basically prints money.

I think we should round up everyone involved in the making of these two franchises, plus the new Turtles movie, put them on a far and deserted island and let them do whatever they want!

I'm down. G.I.Joe movies may not be the best but neither are Transformers at this point. I'm really excited about AoE though. That Grimlock transformation on the bridge got me pumped.

I really want ThunderCats, Silver Hawks & Tigersharks to crossover in live action. That would be amazing...

Do they really think the people watching these movies care if they logically connect the franchises? The audience just wants to see some mindless action. All you have to do is replace the military in the transformers movies with gi joe characters, what's so hard about that?

GI Joe is dogshit. At least Transformers has built a decent universe to work in. Only way I'd consider it is if Dwayne Johnson was involved.

I'm still waiting for my 1.25 refund from Redbox for GI Joe: Retaliation. Enduring garbage like that entitles me to safely download 30 movies from a bit torrent without repercussion. All 3 Transformers are like Citizen Kane in quality when compared to the garbage known as GI Joe, so the Transformers don't need them bringing their films down.

I still think Bay should direct a GI Joe movie. That's a better fit for him than Transformers. The military scenes in his Transformers flicks are exactly what we want to see in a Joe movie.

If both of these movie franchises were actually good, this would be exciting.

The G.I. Joe movies are worse than the Transformers movies, but that's not really saying much.

How would they explain the fact that there wasn't even a hint of any Transformers during the first few G.I. Joe movies though?
