THE BOYS: Anthony Starr Says Homelander Will Become A "Homicidal Manic" In Season 3

Homelander isn't exactly the most stable of individuals as things stand, but Anthony Starr has now revealed that his character in The Boys is going to lose the plot entirely during the show's third season.

Homelander is a ruthless narcist with little to no regard for anyone or anything besides himself. He has already proven that he's more than capable of taking innocent life and brutally murdering anyone who stands in his way, but it sounds like his homicidal tendencies are going to reach critical mass after the events of the Season 2 finale of The Boys (you can check out a full recap HERE).

Homelander thought he had established a genuine connection with his son, but when Queen Maeve blackmailed him into allowing Butcher to take Ryan under his protection, it was strongly implied that the leader of The Seven's already tenuous grip on sanity may have slipped completely.

While speaking to Collider, actor Anthony Starr dropped a big hint about what we should expect from Homelander in Season 3 of The Boys.

“There are two words that Eric [Kripke] has said to me about Season 3,” Starr told the site. “His description for Homelander Season 3 was, ‘Two words, homicidal maniac.’ That’s all I know."

“I’m actually looking forward to seeing Homelander off the leash. It’ll be really fun, just seeing him go unhinged and exact revenge. If you look at the end of Season 2, some people should be more scared than others, for sure. William Butcher should always have an alarm bell ringing in his head, and I think some other people have firmly put themselves in the line of fire for Season 3. It should be a lot of fun.”

If you've read Garth Ennis' comic series, you'll know that "homicidal maniac" is actually an understatement, as Homelander abandons any shred of humanity he may have had and goes on a blood-soaked rampage.

How can Butcher and the team even hope to deal with an invulnerable psychopath? Let's hear your theories!

Season 2 overall felt less enjoyable than season 1. There was less action and more talking. The politics took center stage but i don't think that this is the best approach. Also some characters got kind of annoying like Hughie for example and Starlight. Also it felt less believable in the sense that while they were fugitives they were running around like everything was normal. I mean breaking into Vought without even a hoodie while also leaving unharmed? I think it was used more as a setup for season 3

you mean he is not already a homicidal maniac? O_O'
this has been the breakout character for me this year, and I assume a lot of people (I just finished the entire series a couple of days ago, hadn't seen it until very recently). I like how The Boys take the idea of mirror characters based on already existing ones and just take them to their logical, mostly f*cked up, extremes. Homelander is evil Superman, yes, but he's so evil and twisted that it makes all the other evil Supermen look like teletubbies by comparison.
if Marvel wants a Sentry or a Hyperion in the near future, this is the guy to seek out.

Yeah, I read that and thought "how would you describe that mother[frick]er up until this point?". He ended the first episode by shooting a plane out of the sky. A homocidal maniac? Surely not this guy:

@Kyos - that image kinda sums it up: that is CALM Homelander, I honestly do not wanna see him truly unhinged.

@Spidey91 - He's a ruthless, evil bastard, but he still maintains at least the veneer of being a hero. That slips.. big time.

I think Malory is going to die in season 3. It's amazing that she is alive.

@Repian - They already killed off one ally in the government this season. They dont have to kill another in the next

He been unhinged lol so he must REALLY go off the deep end in S3.

Starr is honestly giving an awards worthy performance.

If that is the case, how do you keep this show going 5 seasons or more? Seems like an unhinged Homelander will need to be taken out. Anyway, man Starr has been great with the crazy eyes and playing up the psychotic parts of Homelander by emoting

Best performance on the show by far, and the rest of the acting’s great too - just a testament to how good Starr is. Hope he gets more big roles afterwards

I loved season 2. Maybe a little more than the 1st tbh.

Currently watching Lovecraft Country and I think it's VERY good so far. I don't think it'll be for everyone though.
