Amazon Prime Video seems to be feeling quite bullish about The Boys as they've just announced an early season two renewal for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic, which has Seth Rogen (Long Shot; Preacher) and Eric Kripke (Supernatural; Timeless) attached as executive producers.

Additionally, Amazon has also announced that You're the Worst star Aya Cash will join the cast of season two as the superhero Stormfront, who, in the comics, is a male character known for being an unrepentant bigot, an alumnus of the Hitler Youth, and one of the most powerful superhumans on earth.

The eight-episode first season is set to premiere next Friday and will follow The Boys - Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Kapon) & The Female (Karen Fukuhara) - as they embark on a mission to expose the powerful superhero team known as The Seven, and Vought, the mega-corporation that manages their careers.

THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven," and their formidable Vought backing.

The Boys features:
Karl Urban as Billy Butcher
Elisabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwell
Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk
Jack Quaid as "Wee" Hughie Campbell
Karen Fukuhara as Female
Tomer Kapon as Frenchie
Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight
Antony Starr as The Homelander
Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve
Jessie Usher as A-Train
Chace Crawford as The Deep
Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir
Jennifer Esposito as CIA Agent Susan Raynor
Simon Pegg as Hughie's father

The Boys premieres July 26

Aya Cash plays the type of damaged goods on You're the Worst that seems like it will lend itself well to this. Kudos

Excited for the show. She’s annoying though.

I’m
Gonna let people go and look up pictures of Stormfront themselves. I literally can’t hear any more about this - they are butchering the comic beyond all recognition.

@CLTMAN29 - they’re really not, I’m a massive fan of the comic (Mother’s Milk has been my avatar since I joined this site” and don’t see the big deal in changing some things, “butchering the comic beyond all recognition” is definitely dramatic

@DillonEnnis - I tapped out the minute they said at NYCC last year that The Boys (aside from female) don't have any powers. As it's more 'of an origin story' what the [frick] does that even mean? The whole thing is an origin story anyway (for Hughie) As a fan of the comics you know it's smarter than a bunch of thugs running around shooting supes with machine guns. And would have been the worse thing to actually make Hughie Scottish? No. Beacuse what's happened is statistically a large portion of an American audience wouldn't respond to that. It looks dreadful. It's a dman shame.

@CLTMAN29 - damn it sucks you feel that way but I think it looks great honestly, captures the feeling of the comic for sure despite some changes, never thought this would get a show so I’m excited it’s happening

@CLTMAN29 - Hey man you been able to watch any of it yet? I’m not too far in but so far it feels like they’re nailing it even with the minor changes. Just wanted to know if you had a chance to check it out and felt any different

@DillonEnnis - I think it had a strong pilot. And I think Tomer Capon is great as Frenchie. I tapped out in episode 5 once it turned out Butchers wife may not even be dead. It's not The Boys. I mean, they may as well just change the title and names for how different it is. After reading how it plays out I'm glad, it's not an adaptation - it's legal and authorised plagerism!
