In an interviw with USA Today, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman hinted at two characters from the comic with potential to make their way on to the silver screen:

"Frank (Darabont) has already hinted at the fact we'll be seeing Michonne as early as Season 2. The Governor is probably a little ways off from Season 2 — maybe Season 3 or beyond," said Kirkman.

Kirkman also wanted to find a way to bring Daryl Dixon, a character only featured in the TV series, into the comics continuity.

Kirkman also explained that since the First Season of the show is based off the early issues in th comic series, we have yet to see the true side of Rick Grimes. Kirkman explained the trouble he had with holding backthe crazy side of Rick:

"I like to call the one in the comic book 'Crazy Rick' because he will do anything he has to do to survive, even if it's seemingly wrong, just because. There were some times when I had to pull back, but I was able to rein myself in and not doing anything too crazy," said Kirkman.

The Walking Dead season 2 is confirmed and the show is expected to return to AMC some time in October.

Two awesome characters that I definitely look forward to seeing in the show...although I am a little unsure about them being introduced so early. But the show is amazing and I'm sure they'll do a great job keeping it all together as the story unfolds.

Can't wait for season 2. Hope they stick reasonably close to the comic source. Absolutely agree about Vivica A Fox playing Michonne, she could really kick ass!
I know some may feel he's older than portrayed in the comics but I also agree with the earlier comment that Danny Trejo should be the Govenor? Roll on October.

This could be just be a lame rumour, but the website Digital spy claims that Walking Dead will start its new run in JULY along with Breaking Bad.

The Governor is one of the most crazy and evil characters ever created. There is no way they'll be able to do him justice.

He kept his zombified daughter locked up and fed her people, as well as made out with her. Forced innocent people to fight each other in a ring of zombies. And held Michonne captive and brutally raped and beat her numerous times. Thats just scratching the surface. No way they can do all that on AMC.

But i'm still looking forward to him being on the show as that was the best story arc so far.

Well in my opinion season 2 should be based on Rick and the group going on the road and finding that jail, then in the last minutes of the season finale the Governor should reveal himself, then we would have an awesome 3rd season all about the 3(glen, rick and michonne) stuck in Woodbury and the little "war" on the prision
