Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Robert Kirkman has revealed that there was set to be a fifth casualty to accompany the shocking deaths of Shane, Dale, Patricia and Jimmy. Who was it? None other than Hershel himself! "Hershel was originally going to be murdered by Randall in episode 12. So we were going to lose Hershel, Randall, and Shane all in one episode, which I felt was really cool," revealed the creator of the comic book and writer/executive producer on the show. "But at the end of the day we had so much story to tell with Hershel, and he had such a central role in the ensemble, and Scott Wilson is such a phenomenal actor that we felt like it was overkill. So [he] got a reprieve." Fans of the Image series will know that Hershel eventually [SPOILER] dies at the hands of the Governor [END SPOILER] and it's obviously unknown whether or not the show will now follow this. How would you have felt about them killing off Hershel? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.
