The AMC comic adaptation ‘The Walking Dead’ is moving along at full force now. New cast members added to the show include IronE Singleton as a new character named T-Dog and Keith Allan Hayes in an undisclosed role (possibly Tyreese). Both actors had small roles in The Blind Side. Here is Keith Allan Hayes – he more than looks a little bit like Tyrese – A Walking Dead character favorite.

Emma Bell has also joined the cast. She was most recently in the ski lift horror flick Frozen. Rumor has it she will be Andrea’s younger sister Amy, who has a recurring role in the comic.

Also to clear the casting of Addy Miller – she won’t be playing Sophia as initially suspected – but will instead be playing a zombified child.

Series creator Robert Kirkman went on to talk about seeing these characters come to life on the TV set and how weird it was knowing what he does to these people in his book. Minor spoilers ahead – but no names. Head to the link to see full spoilers from the book.

“It’s interesting because they’re not characters that I’m writing very much any more. I’m working on the book every month, but most of the people on the show are dead in the comic. Spoiler alert!,” laughed Kirkman, “I’m walking around set thinking to myself, “Yeah, I killed that guy. Yup, killed her. Probably gonna kill him next issue!” So it’s a different experience, and there are a lot of cool twists that are going to make the show entertaining for people who have read the comic.”

Kirkman went on to say that he believes the TV show will be better than his comics by far and that the pilot episode director Frank Darabont is improving everything that he did years ago when it was just a black and white comic.

“Everyone is really trying to do good by the comic, and there are scenes that are straight out of it. I think that fans are just going to be thrilled. But at the same time, Frank is vastly improving the material.” Said Kirkman, “And there are things here and there that along the way I should have caught, but didn’t. There’s some amazing stuff he added for Morgan’s character in the Pilot episode that’s just not in the comic. It was back story, but he handles it in a way that just really brings it to the forefront. It’s like, Morgan, that guy is an awesome character!”

As for the TV show's score -

The composer for the Gears of War videogame franchise is interested in composing The Walking Dead as well. Kevin Riepl, who has also done the scores for Shrek 1 and 2 made a full pitch for the show over Twitter. Nothing is official yet – but here’s the link to the video of his pitch. Emma Bell for Amy is literally 100%, it has to be.

Keith Allan Hayes as Tyreese? Ugh, I wanted Chad L. Coleman from HBO's The Wire. But I'm also very certain that I'll grow to like Hayes a lot as Tyreese when I finally see him in the show. That is of course if he IS Tyreese.

@ keven

oh they look alike?? why because they're both black?? and they all look the same??? that offends me. i'm not black, but i'm still offended for some reason. :)

just kidding. i can't think of any other important black male characters, so you're probably dead on. unless he's going to play Rick's next door neighbor from volume 1. The one with the son? thats a possibility.

i can't wait for this show.

I don't know who Keith Allan Hayes is, but that looks like a picture of Lamman Rucker.

yeah, thats the only reason i guessed Morgan, is because Tyreese doesn't come in until later. if this guy is in the first episodes, then i wouldn't think he's Tyreese. but we don't know how close to the books it will follow, so any guess good right now.

you're right, he does look too big to be Morgan, though.

Morgan would be cool for this guy, but he's only in the first book and then gone for the next what..11? Hope he's Tyrese, and I REALLY hope he doesn't get what happens to him in the comic, lol. I liked Tyrese.

@ antz

actually, Morgan is only in the first issue or two, then we don't see him again for a VERY long time. there was a short story about him and his son in the Christmas issue. very cool that they checked back in on him. but he hasn't been a part of the actual series since thoe first couple issues.

@ Corn really? I never saw that! Yeah I like how Rick goes back and finds him: it was cool to see what a switch his character goes through in the break between.

yeah it was just a little short, secondary story. it showed Morgan giving his son a Gameboy for Christmas. it was a cool little story. I haven't been keeping up with this though, unfortunately. I took a break from all comics because i have a new daughter and need to get my finances straightened out.

was it recently when Rick goes back for him?? I read up until the end of the "No One Is Safe" story, which totally blew my mind! So i don't really know what happens after that. :( sad face

No sh&t, that sounds good. Can't believe I never saw that.

Yeah dude, Rick goes back home shortly after he meets abraham and finds Morgan.....and his son. It was pretty cool to see him go back and what morgan's been going through.
