THE WALKING DEAD: Robert Kirkman Knows When Each Cast Member Will Die

Which makes perfect sense as he's the creator of the show's source material, the Walking Dead comic book. But it's still a little harrowing to hear out loud. Continue on for Kirkman's full quote.

From its start back in 2010, The Walking Dead tv series has certainly seen it's fair share of cast members die in a variety of ways (mostly by zombie dismembement). Lori, Shane, Meryl, Sophia, Hershel and T-Dogg are but a few of the fan favorites that audiences have said goodbye to over the AMC zombie show's 4 seasons. Saying goodbye is also something of a traumatic ordeal for the cast and crew; when a certain cast members' time is up, filming their final scene has been known to illicit a lot of tears and hugs on the set. So how does it feel to be Robert Kirkman? Probably the one person on the show who knows exactly when everyone of the characters is going to die. Said Kirkman to Entertainment Weekly's SiriusXM channel, "I got a pretty good idea when all of them are dying. [And] to a certain extent, if we follow the comic, [I know] possibly even more [deaths] than [showrunner] Scott [Gimple] knows. So I’m always like [points around to imaginary Walking Dead cast]…'two years, three years, six months, two weeks, oh, God this is awful'! It’s really rough. Doing the comic, it was fine because it was just lines on a paper. Whatever. We’re killing that guy. Cool. But the show, it sucks because we all work together, we hang out, and have a great time. But, you know, the story’s gotta get done and people gots to die, as I like to say. It’s pretty rough.”

The Walking Dead season 5 will premiere Sunday, October 12 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC.

Kirkman seems get his jollies reminding us that the Walking Dead characters are his toys and he can jerk them out of the actors hands whenever he wishes.

@thejfather1 A few days ago I tried to rewatch season 4. And couldn't bear it. After season 2 the show degraded into a game show called "Who's gonna die next?"

And when you watch the show there is a tension because you want to know the answer. But when you look back at the shows and know the answers they are no longer fun to watch.
And you'll find the same thing with nearly every Whodunit movie a TV show.

They need to back off of the guessing game shit and focus on being an entertaining show.

The thing is...they keep talking about killing off the characters, but it doesn't happen. Season 3 finale: AMC said 27 characters would die. Only Milton and Andrea were important. Season 4 mid season finale: Governor rolls a tank right into the prison, and only Hershel and the Gov die. For a show that "prides" itself on killing main characters, they sure do have a huge cast of survivors. Hopefully, they thin out the herd this season and remove some of the plot armor thats made most of them invincible.

brilliant idea here, kill all the characters slowly throughout this season and just leave Rick. We can see how one man reacts to having everything taken from him.

Remember that idiot Season 2 showrunner that replaced Darabont that yapped about them having big balls by killing tons of main characters and nobody has plot armor... [frick]ing bullshit. Only two main characters were killed and one of them probably left because he's loyal to Frank. The rest for background characters, like... hold on *goes to Google search* Ugh, Jimmy.

The show is absolute garbage and guess what? The comic isn't much better. Both are terribly written.

The attack on the prison was one of the worst episodes in television history. The prison group were outnumbered by a group filled with some people that had military training and a TANK and nobody from the prison group died during the actual skirmish. What a joke.

And the comics were mediocre at best before Negan showed up. Then fanboys said "OMFG that character says [frick] every other word! How edgy and cool!" And the writing got progressively worse (Negan constantly talks about killing his enemies when he has them in his grasp, but his delaying always allows them to escape), but nobody noticed because OMFG Negan. Two of the most overrated pieces in all of entertainment.

I love the series. I hope that, at the end of it all, we see Daryl burying Rick and Carl. He then begins his trek as Daryl: Super-Redneck and Last Human on Earth.

@punpun
theres a reason Negan leaves people alive. he wants them to live in fear and collect things for the saviors. if you kill the bees you arent getting any honey and hes explained it many times.
