THE WALKING DEAD Showrunner On Whether We'll See These Five Key Scenes From The Comic

It's become clear by now that AMC's The Walking Dead is by no means a direct adaptation of Robert Kirkman's hit comic book series. However, showrunner Glen Mazzara talks here about the possibility of bringing five key 'The Governor' moments to the small screen.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara has shared his thoughts on the possibility of bringing five of the most iconic (and horrific) moments featuring 'The Governor' from the comic book series to the small screen in the hit AMC series. Check them out below, but be warned as there are some MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

'The Governor' Cuts Off Rick's Hand:

We're going to take our time telling that story line and the events of the comic you can see are already diverging with the series with the idea that Andrea and Michonne are the ones who find the helicopter crash and go in and are welcomed in Woodbury. Everything is game; there are a lot of powerful scenes from Robert's book and anything we use organically fits into the story were telling.

'The Governor' Brutally Beats And Rapes 'Michonne':

Right now, the Governor and Michonne are just getting to know each other. They obviously already hate each other and she doesn't trust him. That's a long-running animosity that we intend to get a lot of story out of. Those things are plausible within our universe but we have to earn them.

'The Governor' And His Gladiator Arena Where He Pits Humans Against The Undead:

That's something that I think people can look forward to this season. I'd hope people would think it's an exciting scene. I won't give away who could be in there but it could be anybody.

'The Governor' Gets His Comeuppance At The Hands Of 'Michonne':

Right now she has no reason to do any of these things since she just met the guy. Let's go down the path and watch this relationship develop and give her a reason to have such a hatred and vendetta. We're just getting started. The Governor-Michonne arc is a long story and we want to take our time and do it right and not burn through it and get it over with too quickly. We love these characters and hope they're around for a long time.

'The Governor' Attacks The Prison And 'Lori' Dies As A Result:

As of now, the Governor doesn't even know the prison exists. The story of the season is him and Rick learning about each other and marching toward war. That Lori event happens during his attack and we still have a lot of story to tell. We have had conversations about whether every character should survive the season. I think Lori is looking for redemption and now that Rick has finally gotten to what he considers a safe place for her to have the baby, they need to enter into the next chapter of their life. I think Lori is looking for redemption; I don't think anybody is looking to punish her."

A lot of those scenes are very brutal and graphic, great in the comic, don't know about the show, maybe have it and have a pg13 and then have a blu ray uncut version that shows it all.

On the Rick hand, I don't feel It will happen specially since to many of the main cast are being cut up, it would seem redundant on a TV show.

That hand cutting scene is one that they will not pass up for anything.. but i believe its going to be their next game changer. Last season they had the attack on the farm and Shanes demise.. This season they have the prison . I think the next thing to up the stakes is the governor and the battle.

So basically it comes down to:
"Will we see this happen?"
-"You'll see"

They already said Lori and T-Dog die in tobights episode...Lori dies in labor and Carl puts he down, and T-Dog gets bit. I really hope the review is wrong and Lori dies during the siege, but AMC pulled the review an hour after it was posted...

I don't really care for Lori.

RIck's hand I believe, if it were to be cut off will actually be done by Merle, the whole an eye for an eye kind of deal.

The one thing I don't want to happen is the events of issue #100, if that is going to happen I will have to stop watching, it'll just becoming to f**king depressing. Also such a big character shouldn't go in such a sucky way

Lori and the baby are going to die.

The kick to the head is just too great to pass up and it fits the story. How are you going to deal with a baby on a zombie show?

Lori needs to die as they try and escape the siege...it was such a gut wrenching part of the series. To see Rick have to abandon his wife (as she gets blown away) and daughter in order to protect Carl from the Governor and his men, not to mention the herd of walkers that flooded into the prison yard. If Lori dies in labor they'll have [frick]ed up one of the most important parts of the prison arc.

You have to love the guy.

"We've got a lot of story to tell (with a divergence remark). We've got a lot of story to tell. Yeah, that will be in there. We've got a lot of story to tell. We've got a lot of story to tell."

In translation: "No. Don't count on it. Yes. Don't count on it. Don't count on it."

A) I hope they don't cut Ricks hand off...I don't really see that its necessary in the TV show...also I doubt they'd it that as means a lot more SFX each week...

B) Lori must die...and I think she will...mainly because if she is seeking redemption and finds it, it'll make her and her baby's death that much more powerful!!!

yeah agree with above, the whole reason they introduced Merle was to establish a foreshadowing plot point. I never cared much for him losing a hand like he was Roland in the DTower, but at least it validates messing with the original canon.

So...
Rick will lose a hand.
Lori will die potentially before having baby (no one will miss her).
No rape, but Michone will probably get beat by Gov, thus justifying her retaliation.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they put Daryl and Rick in the arena somehow.
Merle isnt going to make it. Probably by him trying to save Daryl.

I skipped over this article for fear of spoiling this season. Are there spoilers for this season or just past seasons and/or the comics? I'm caught up on the show and the comics so I don't mind those but I don't want to spoil any of this season.

Man, I shouldn't of read that. Oh well, too late now. I've never read a single comic of TWD, but when this show is over (which I hope is never) I'm going to read every single one of 'em!

They're spoilers about what we'll see in the show and it's clearly marked as spoilers. So complain all you want but you look like an idiot doing so...
