UPDATE: WOLVERINE Star Kevin Durand Being Eyed To Play 'Negan' In THE WALKING DEAD?

The Walking Dead comic book series have been wondering when and if Negan would appear in the TV show, and it sounds as if it will be sooner rather than later! According to Nuke The Fridge, Kevin Durand revealed that AMC have approached him to play the foul mouthed and sadistic villain in a recent conference call promoting The Strain. The actor is quoted as saying, "I’ve had a lot of people with The Walking Dead talk to me, mentioned that they see me for a character named ‘Negan,’ but I haven’t read the comic." Now, this isn't the most reliable of sites and they're quick to point out that they are the first report this news. Are they twisting his words (after all, it could be that Durand was referring to fans rather than those working on the series) or have they come across a huge scoop? It seems as if we're going to have to wait and see for now! How would you guys feel about Durand bringing Negan to life on the small screen? Share your thoughts below...

Negan is a character first introduced in Issue 100 of Image Comics' The Walking Dead and was the leader of the Saviors and is a primary antagonist in the Comic Series. He uses his authority and resources to subjugate other communities, such as the Hilltop Colony, The Kingdom, and later the Alexandria Safe-Zone, into paying tribute to The Saviors, in exchange for protection against zombies. UPDATE: While it's possible that he may have been told to say this after letting the cat out of the bag, it appears as if Kevin Durand has now debunked these claims. What a shame!

Good actor. Not familiar with Walking Dead beside the show or TellTale game so I don't know if he'd be a good match for the part.

These are the days when actors need to keep their mouths shut. Example: someone has already been cast as Luke Cage and we don't know who.
This guy just ran his mouth about a show that covets secrecy. If I was them I would not be inclined to cast him after that.

I like this guy, but I'd hate to see him leave The Strain. I love his character on there.

I don't see nothing wrong with that. If Michael Rooker hadn't already played Merle he'd have been my first choice for that role. But I'm gonna throw out another name for this role ... Ron Perlman.

I can definitely see it. A little more fragile looking than I'd imagine Negan, but could work.

They should make a funny or die with Trejo as The Governor and Rollins as Negan.

I think he'll make a great Negan. He's got a natural ass-hole complex. He is good on Strain.

He has done some outstanding performances, and can play a really creepy villain. THe first thing I saw him in though was Mystery, Alaska, and he was completely lovable. I think his character on Dark Angel was the only other time I've seen him like that, and I didn't know that was him for a long time. Even on Strain he's not a villain, but you know...

whoever said Durand looks a little "fragile" to play Negan, look again. They guy is huge. I think he'd be perfect for the role! Whenever I think of him playing Negan, I picture his personality being similar to his character on Real Steel. Can't wait to see this character brought to life.

Someone else mentioned Danny Trejo resembling Abraham, or vice versa? I for one thought the way The Governor was drawn in the comic resembled a smaller version of Danny Trejo.
