Hopefully its better than 'Listen' because that episode had so many flaws...

- The Doctor brainwashed a young boy into believing he was a soldier and killed someone
- The Monster was revealed so why is Clara so stupid that she thinks their was nothing
- Clara constantly makes the same mistake over and over when talking to Danny Pink
- Danny Pink keeps getting way too angry
- Etc...

Scarilian, Danny Pink is clearly a very troubled man which is made clear, and that is why he gets so angry. The whole situation with him and Clara was made to be awkward and was done perfectly. The Doctor brainwashed him into thinking he had a dream about being a soldier, not actually being one, nor killing someone.

I thought the episode was absolutely excellent. Though i didn't quite understand who was under the blanket in young Pink's room. Brilliant otherwise.

@Cap1

Danny Pink is a trouble man yes, trauma is a rational explanation and if it was a simple case of him actually being a soldier and being traumatised by what he has done then i'd say its a good characterisation. However, 'Listen' reveals the Doctor brainwashed him by giving him "A good old' dream of being Dan the soldier man"

If you watch the episode again you will notice in the episode Clara decides to ask the Doctor to take her back to the date after he says that line because she realises he wasnt actually a soldier. She feels sorry for him because the Doctor gave him a dream that caused him to believe he was 'Dan the soldier man' - hence why Rupert became Danny.

@SuperDue1
1) Yes he did brainwash him, the episode implies it heavily, refer to the above point.

2) If the monster was not real then who was under the covers? What wrote 'Listen' on the chalkboard? Why does everyone have the same dream? and what did we see in the episode?

In addition we actually see the head of the monster when it removes the covers in that scnee. I cannot link the image here however if you pause the scene on BBC Iplayer when the cover drops you will see an alien creature with what appears to be a flat greyish head with round black eyes.

Listen was a horrible episode for me. Doctor Who seems to be going down hill in my book. I dont know why they need to keep adding Clara deeper and deeper into the Doctors time line. alright we know she is part of his own history, I get it but seriously now she gets to take credit for the whole NO GUNS thing that he has. No just No.

Clara's mystery has been solved. Stop trying to make her timeline important anymore. Find something else to build her character and not just piggyback off the doctors time line. Personally I cannot stand her character.

Danny Pink, (I'm also called Danny) I wanted to like him, I imagined episodes where the Doctor would need a solider but he has already said in the Dalek episode that he doesn't travel with Soldiers, so that puts Danny out of the Tardis for good, although I'm sure that'll change. They're trying to make him charming and tormented but for me he is just annoying. Shoehorning a character into a story and taking up ten fifteen minutes of the plot just doesn't work.

The Villain was FEAR? Seriously, you spent the whole episode with that idea. No sorry, I get the whole 'Scarier in your own head than what we can show you) but Doctor Who needs to do something to pick up the story, the series and the show. I've been watching since its return and have watched some of the originals including the very first episode (or what I could) and now i'm at the point of turning the channel.

Please fix the show. Please. I love Doctor Who, wrote a couple fan fictions for other sites and wish that this gets better. Capaldi is a great actor and should be allowed to shine not have the show based around Clara, this isn't Clara Who, its Doctor WHO!

I watched the Deep Breath episode yesterday on my DVR before going to bed. Deep Breath was my first episode of Doctor Who that I ever saw. I figured new Doctor, new jumping on point for someone who knows nothing about Doctor Who.

I had to watch it with subtitles on because a Scottish accent at 25 miles per an hour is indecipherable, but this new Doctor seems to be allergic to bullshit and not a poofter so I'll continue to watch even though I have no idea what's going on.

Scarilian, i didn't think of it like that (how the Doctor brainwashed Danny/Rupert). That is very evil but that is who the new Doctor is. A lot more evil and a lot more sinister.

SuperDude, are you sure? It had a big grey head and alien eyes when it removed its blanket for a split second, they didn't really explain that.

Djv1985, i agree with your Clara comment. She's far too annoying and full of herself for my liking. They just introduce a new Doctor and now she's in it more than him. Don't like that at all.

@Scarilian I think you are looking too much into it. He just put Rupert asleep, he grew up changed his name to Danny, joined the army, then became a teacher. Because otherwise you are saying he spent years of his life just sitting still then coming out the other side thinking he was a soldier.
And maybe the thing under the covers was real, you'll never know for sure because the point of it was that fear affects everyone.
Also to people complaining about Clara, The Doctor is even more interesting when he has a good companion to bounce off of. And you cant deny Jenna Coleman is killing it this season.
