Sherlock Holmes can tell a software designer by his tie and an airline pilot by his thumb. He has a unique analytical brain and, unlike anyone else in the world, he staves off boredom by solving crimes. When a chance encounter brings soldier John Watson into Sherlock's life, it's apparent the two men couldn't be more different, but Sherlock's intellect coupled with John's pragmatism soon forge an unbreakable alliance. In season three, Sherlock returns but will things ever be the same again?

I wish they would make this a regular series. This is one of the best shows on TV.

I would much rather have 3 film quality episodes than a full season.

I really like last season's Moriarty. Some people thought the character was a little over the top, but I kind of dug that.

I agree. Once you get used to it, he's pretty enjoyable to watch.

This show is so well done. From the acting, to the writing, to the directing. Steven Moffat is so under appreciated on this side of the pond. A master of dialogue.

Echoed.

I also enjoy the Ritchie movies, but this series and those films are so different that it's tough to compare them for me. I won't bother with Elementary though.

I was kind of disappointed in Moriarty's end last season. I hope it turns out to be a giant fake out.

Count me among those who found the Moriarty on this show completely ridiculous. The whole idea of the character is that he's the crime boss that nobody even knows exists... So making him as flamboyant as the Joker is pretty damn stupid. He practically screamed "Look at me! I'm so randomly crazy and memorable!" in every scene he had.

That, plus that swimming pool stand-off that ended the prior season was another example of screenwriters writing nonsensical stand-offs. Drove me nuts.

Otherwise, the program is usually quite good... but the Moriarty stuff is all show and no logic... moreso even than the Downey Jr. stuff.

@airbeyonder18 If you ask me, those Robert Downey, Jr./Jude Law films miss the point of what makes a great Sherlock Holmes story. Way too much focus on action, nowhere near enough on the intelligent aspect of it.

The BBC show hits the nail right on the head, though.

Where the FRICK is John's mustache?! Damn it all!! I was digging that thing, hardcore. The only person in the universe who was, probably.
