We figured Ray Fisher wouldn't be the only one to respond after the publication of Joss Whedon's damning interview with NY Mag, and sure enough, another of the disgraced director's accusers has now weighed in.
Shortly after WarnerMedia conducted its investigation into Whedon's behaviour, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel alum Charisma Carpenter shared her own account of working with the filmmaker. The actress described Whedon as a joy-sucking "vampire," who publicly and privately berated and humiliated her on several different occasions, before ultimately firing her from Angel after becoming enraged because she fell pregnant while shooting.
Whedon was asked about these incidents during the recent interview, and although he admitted that he was “not mannerly,” he claimed he “did not call her fat” during her Angel Season 4 pregnancy. “Most of my experiences with Charisma were delightful and charming," he added. "She struggled sometimes with her lines, but nobody could hit a punch line harder than her.”
Now, Carpenter has responded with the hashtag #IStandWithRayFisher, referring to Whedon as her "former tyrannical narcissistic boss who is still unable to be accountable and just apologize" in her post. The actress also addressed Whedon's claims that Gal Gadot must have "misunderstood" when he threatened to end her career: "I believe Gal Gadot not only understands career threats in English, but also in Hebrew and Arabic. Possibly French, Spanish and Italian too.”
Why Whedon believed this interview would do anything other than sink his career even further is anyone's guess, but here we are.
What do you guys make of the director's comments and the responses we've heard so far?
