ARROW Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim Teases An "Unprecedented" Cliffhanger For The Season 6 Finale

We're still a ways away from the before the current season of Arrow comes to an end, but that hasn't stopped executive producer Marc Guggenheim from teasing an exciting finale to Season 6 of the CW series.

This season of Arrow has already featured plenty of shake-ups and surprises with the fracturing of Team Arrow and the departure of Willa Holland’s Thea, and it seems the show has plenty more in store.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim discussed the Season 6 finale of Arrow. “It’s a very unusual kind of finale," Guggenheim explained before comparing it to last year’s explosive finale, which saw Prometheus set off his bombs on Lian Yu. “Last year’s finale was a traditional cliffhanger. It was very much an ‘Oh my God, what’s going to happen?’ This is a different kind of cliffhanger.” The producer went on to say that the style of this season’s cliffhanger will fall “somewhere in the middle” of those that occurred in Seasons 1 and 5.

Not only did Guggenheim compare the upcoming Season 6 finale of Arrow to those of past seasons, he also boldy explained that the cliffhanger is “unprecedented not just for Arrow, but for the other DC superhero shows as well.”

These comments definitely aren’t revealing by any stretch of the imagination, but they do tease more of what fans should expect from the finale, which is already featuring the unexpected return of Caity Lotz as Sarah Lance.

Ok what if its this, maybe Sara is leaving Legends, and they said Sara will appear in the arrow season finale so what if she shows up at the very end, and becomes a series regular next season

No article for tonight's episode?

I dunno about this finale. Very hard to top or even differiante from blowing up Lian Yu.

At this point just focus on doing an actual good 7th Season that is on par with S5, S2 and S1.

Oliver kills Felicity and wears her skin.

Oliver is going to go public with his identity.

@rabid - They've done that so many times i think everyone knows and are just playing along with him with the whole secret identity thing

I hope the finale is Olie getting arrested and sent to a supermax prison, then next season have a prison break plot like the unused movie script

@Obi2 - If that happened they better get Kevin Smith to write and direct the episode he escapes. maybe include onamonapia

I'm hoping for Oliver in prison and an adaption of Escape from Supermax.

@MrDandy - That would be pretty interesting. End the season with him going to jail. Next season starts with escape from Supermax. Although Flash went to prison this season, as did Black Lightning. But they could do it again.
Maybe he gets sentenced, and Sarah comes him and takes him on the Waverider and he escapes into the time stream and joins the Legends.

Oh, and did the terrible Team Arrow Civil War arc ever end. Worst thing ever written in Arrow, and yes I'm including all that overblown Olicity garbage.

They somehow bring back the real Laurel...

@LordHarryLatts - I would actually start watching Arrow again (despite the show's flaws) if they did that.

I don't care if they force the stupid Olicity ship through the ending of Flarrowverse, but Laurel Lance shouldn't have been killed off for that. They could just make another one of their own original characters for her to end up with.

I mean, it sucks that we'll never get a comic accurate pairing, but that's a compromise I'll be willing to accept. Even if they just revive her and ship her off like they did with Thea (and keep Black Siren in the mix for a redemption arc) I'd be cool with that.

An "unprecedented finale/cliffhanger" wouId be the death or perceived death of Oliver in the season finale. He is abandoned, goes it alone, and ends up sacrificing himself. That will be the unprecendented cliffhanger. And then we go a few episodes next season still not knowing his fate. His sacrifice causes everyone to get back together at the beginning of next season. That might be the only way that this whole thing can be resolved. Either that or the cliffhanger is Oliver going to jail for being the Green Arrow. Something big has to happen. And it won't be good for Oliver. I also think there might not be resolution of the big bad from this season. They might just carry it over to next season.

@tugboy - They said it was unprecedented not just for Arrow, but for all the comic book shows on CW. The last season finale of Flash had Barry going away into his own purgatory. Last finale of Arrow was the perceived death of EVERYONE and the mystery of who would survive. The finale has GOT to be something a little more than just Oliver dying or pretending to die. Also, the midseason finale from season 3 was Oliver dying, so that'd just be repetitive.

Also, Oliver going to jail would suck considering they did that for a lengthy period on Flash THIS SAME YEAR

@GAThrawnIGF - Black Lightning also went to prison this year. And, technically, Flash really did go to Supermax (eventually, when they found out he was Flash).

I do have a theory. Someone mentioned that Oliver would be dead or dying, and I think it could be more than that. Maybe he's dying or in a coma, and a lot of the episode (and next season) takes place in his subconscious as he relives his past memories and sees all the people he could have helped but failed. It could be why Sara and Tommy are both in the finale, as I don't see any reason why THIS Sara would want to come back.

Maybe the cliffhanger is that Oliver just takes off and leaves.
Oh wait, they've done that before.
