ARROWVERSE Crossover Adds AMERICAN GODS Actor Jeremy Davies As... Doctor Destiny?

The upcoming Arrowverse crossover event has found its main villain in the form of Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan, LOST, America Gods), who will play a character that's almost certainly Doctor Destiny.

It looks like the big bad of The CW's upcoming Arrowverse crossover is going to be none other than Doctor Destiny, and this year's event will be set in Gotham City.

According to THR, former LOST alum Jeremy Davies has signed on to play a character named John Deegan, "a doctor at Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane in Gotham City, who might just be crazier than the inmates he treats." If you're familiar with DC lore you'll know this is almost certainly a take on John Dee, a.k.a. Doctor Destiny.

Dee was originally introduced as a JLA villain with the power to manipulate dreams, but he is arguably better known for his appearances in some of the more controversial issues of Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

How the character will be re-purposed for the small screen remains to be seen, but we do know that "His machinations will draw Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) to Gotham City."

What do you guys think of this casting? The 3-part Arrowverse crossover kicks-off on December 9.

He was great in his short role in American Gods and great voice work in God of War 4.

@BackwardGalaxy - anything cool that we haven't seen before is better than a rehash for an arrowverse crossover

Oh, Doctor Destiny? I didn't know. I do remember his episodes in JL. Was it really JLA though? I think it was in just JL before the League expanded and it was up to Batman to rescue each of them step by step. Maybe Kate will fill in that role this time?

He did creep me out a bit back then.

@NinnesMBC - Well if you're approaching it from cartoons, yeah we was just in Justice League rather than Justice League Unlimited. But in the comics, he was introduced in Justice League of America.

He also clashed against the Justice League Dark in their animated movie. But I kinda prefer JL's version, seems more psychological and a different kind of big bad for the heroes to face on compared to the aliens and the evil doppelgangers.

@NinnesMBC - disappointed we won't see the legends in this - solely to get constantine in on this action

Very good character actor, he was also a great Charles Manson in the film Helter Skelter.

He was in Justified as Dickie Bennett (great role for which he actually won an award, compared to LOST...) and in Constantine. Fyi...

Potential inspired cover for the crossover? It does feature Doctor Destiny and Superman and Black Canary. (We would get Dinah's version though since Laurel's death)

@NinnesMBC - this is why certain superman stories always put me off

I'm interested for a good reason why he would ever need to team up with Canary.

Anyone with less power, totally get, but specifically supes... I'm over thinking it.

Davies is awesome in everything, and I like Doc Destiny too. This is the first positive thing I've heard about this season of Arrow.
