Those Spoilery ARROW Set Photos May Not Be What You Think

Recently, set photos surfaced which seemed to spoil the fate of Emily Bett Rickard's Felicity Smoak, following a vicious attack by Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). But they may not be what you think. Read on for new details that may have you breathing a sigh of relief. Spoiler Warning

On the mid-season finale of Arrow, an attack by Damian Darhk left Felicity Smoak clinging to life.  With some fans speculating that Felicity may die, set photos emerged which seemed to indicate that the brains of Team Arrow would survive but become paralyzed from the waist down.  Given the show's usage of the Batman mythos, it didn't seem out of the realm of possibility that the show could look to turn Felicity into an Oracle-esque character.  However, Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim took to twitter to dissuade those assumptions that were causing an uproar in the Arrow fandom.

I won't be happy with anything involving Felicity unless it's her death.

She won't die. Like they would get rid of all those tumblr fans who watch the show for Felicity.

@JamesMann

Seriously ? Remove the charm and fun (ok sometimes not that fun) from Felicity and what's left bearable in this show ?

@HappyHater

You see it that way, which is fine, I see it as a hindrance of a character. She ruined season 3 and is the cause for a majority of the eye rolling on the show since then.

She was fine in season 1 and 2, but since then she went from fun to a drama machine filled with whining and endless crying over every episode.

I'd start watching Arrow if Felicity kicks the bucket.

I agree she use to be funnier but still the Olicity drama should die not her character.
Guess now it's to late to have one without the other.

I personally don't see her being killed off, because Arrow will lose a huge audience. I would like to see Felicity's character grow more. She needs to stop crying and it would be nice if she took some defensive classes too.

I would definitely like to see them quit with the whole Olicity and try to fix the whole thing with Laurel although the Laurel Lance of the comics is a good bit younger than him. They should have reversed the ages of Felicity and Laurel as Felicity is the step-mother of Ronny Raymond in the Firestorm comics. Or they could still do that but with a greater difference in age between her and Ronny's dad. She is a good bit younger than Olly though just like the big age difference between Olly and Laurel in the comics.

@Wildling - ? I assume you mean DINAH in the comics? I don't recall there ever being any great discrepancy between Dinah and Oliver's ages in the comics!

They need to kill Felicity for the same reason that The Walking Dead has to kill Daryl at the end of Season 6.

They cannot let characters live just because there is a large group of fans that like them. Because of that very reason that is why TWD now has Rick, Carl, Carol, Daryl, Glenn, Morgan, Maggie and Michonne as all "safe" characters. If they make any other sub-character awesome, they have almost the full roster as a "safe character."

TV shows like this need to start giving some gut punches. They are getting boring in a way. All of the really really cool characters live and the "meh" ones die. I feel like that's why TWD was exciting for a few seasons, and it's getting back that way now too, and especially the comics. You might go into a chapter with your favorite character alive, and everything is going pretty good and then you turn the page and HOLY SH**T! NOOOOOOOOO!

I admit, when Arrow killed Sarah, that hurt. I really really liked her. They didn't really go about it in the way that I would like to have seen but they still did it.

But like I was saying, they need to kill Felicity because by killing her, that creates for some good (if they do it right) character development and relationships.

Daryl needs to die so that the "Daryl dies, we riot" fans watch in horror as Negan is bashing Daryl's skull in. They won't be just crying, they will be terrified of Negan. They need to feel the way that Rick and the gang will feel when they witness that happen. They need to feel like they just lost a bit of themselves. That is good story telling.

RIP
Felicity
