Why the DCTV & the DCCU Should NOT Be Connected.

Why the DCTV & the DCCU Should NOT Be Connected.

Hey everyone! Just want to say this is my first article so let's not be too harsh! I want to tell you all why I think the two DC universes should be kept separate.

Now I know what many of you are thinking. The DCTV universe and the DCCU universe are already not connected. There are many people, however, that wish they were. In this article, I will try to explain why they should be kept separate.

The Flash:
Let's start with The Flash, simply because he is a vital member of the Justice League. In the DCTV universe he is portrayed by Grant Gustin. In the DCCU, he will be played by Ezra Miller. There has been a lot of controvercy over the casting of The Flash in the movies. A lot of people strongly dislike the casting. I will agree that Miller looks nothing like The Flash in the comics while Gustin looks pretty close. Just dye his hair blonde and he could look pretty good. The thing is, I may be wrong, but I do not think he's even been confirmed to play Barry Allen. He could be playing Wally West. I think that would be ideal just because it would be less confusing between Gustin and Miller.

Green Arrow:

Now let's talk about Stephen Amell's Arrow. Everybody loves this guy! So it is no wonder that a lot of people want him to be in the movies. Amell has truly brought a badass Green Arrow to our screens. The Emerald Archer has not yet been casted in the movies and we do not even know if the character will be put in the films. But if he does join the movies, it should be with a different actor. Some popular choices are Garrett Hedlund, Josh Holloway, and Charlie Hunnam. Personally, I would go with Hunnam though really I'd be indifferent to any casting.

Deathstroke:

With the rumors of actor Joe Manganiello lined up to play Deathstroke in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, people are screaming "No! What about Manu Bennett?!" Manu Bennett starred in the role of Arrow Season 2. In my opinion, he did in fact kill the role. He brought a whole new level of greatness to the show and I can't wait to see him return later on in the season. But Bennett should not be the Deathstroke in the DCCU. Manganiello is an interesting choice, one I had not thought of. Some fan favorites for the role are Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, and even Sean Bean. It really depends what incarnation they decide to go with. He does not look very old, but he will be 40 when the film comes out and he is starting to gray. The dude's already ripped, so just give him a haircut and have him keep the beard and we could have another quality casting.

Here is my main reason why I believe the two universes should not be shared. Scheduling and filming time. The cast of Arrow and The Flash are always very busy filming their shows. I believe they film about seven to eight months out of the year. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but if it is, Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, and Manu Bennett would have a very hard time fitting time in to film a movie. And if they were to join the DCCU, they'd have to memorize almost twice as many lines. Now I'm not an actor, but I feel like that is a lot of lines to have to memorize. Because of this, I feel the quality of the two shows will dramatically decrease because they would be so stressed between filming of the shows and the movies. I do not know about you guys, but I would rather have quality TV shows separated from quality movies than lower quality TV shows connected to decent movies.

Sound off in the comments and let me know what you think!

Not bad for your first.
But timing? There's got to be a better reason than that... say if Arrow loses his arm in the movie, would they have to have it gone on the show... stuff like that.

That's a good point. I wasn't thinking anything that drastic would happen, but you're absolutely right.

Green Arrow really isn't vital to the Justice League, so I'm sure he won't be in the Justice League Saga. I'm not a fan of Stephen Amell's Arrow either. I made a pun but it rubbed people the wrong way so I won't say it. Anyways, I do bolieve the movies and tv shows should stay separate. It just makes things easier for all involved, from the actors to the writers to the directors etc. The people from the DC tv shows shouldn't be disappointed. They are creating highly successful tv shows bound to continue for a dozen more seasons that get nothing but approbation by the fans. That's an accomplishment on its own.

Good write up, but the reasoning needs some work. I think you can come up with something better than timing.

I personally dont want them to connect, til later down the line. i would like tosee JL: crisis on 2-Earth's adaption for the 2nd JL movie. It would basically be a movie-verse vs the tv-verse.

A huge DC rumor came out and one of the MANY things that was in it was that if Marvel Studios has the MCU, DC Entertainment has the "DCCM" (DC Cinematic MULTIVERSE). So that means they will use the different universes and we could see the TV characters, past movie characters, and more in the same movie. I really just wanna see Henry Cavill kick the asses of Brandon Routh and Tom Welling and the have an interaction between Arrow's Atom and Superman Return's Superman.

@Gliderman, I agree 100%. Plus, it always cracks me up that people think we should not be harsh just because it's their first article. That's just stupid. If you can't handle criticism, don't write the article.

As for this subject, I don't care about Arrow or Deathstroke. But Gustin should be Flash in the movies. I never even liked Flash until Gustin played him.

@Lhornbk So let's say for instance that Gustin did get cast as the Flash in the movies as well as in the tv show. Would it not be strange to see a different actor cast in the role of Captain Cold, Iris West, Heatwave, Green Arrow, etc. It would completely mess up the continuity of the shows and would really throw people through a loop.
