Over five season, Arrow has certainly made it clear that they have no problem letting several storylines or characters fall into limbo if there's no way to use them to further the current storyline (looking at you Wildcat). But what about Helix, the dangerous hacker group Felicity briefly joined up with when she was desperate to find a way to stop Prometheus.
After they rescued their founder, Cayden James (whose face we never saw), the group disappeared as the show shifted focus towards Prometheus' endgame plan on Lian Yu. So did Helix fade away for good or will they resurface in season 6?
Speaking to TV Line, executive producer Wendy Mericle stated, "Helix is a dangling thread, and we don’t like to leave those hanging around. It’d be a great, sort of built-in story for Felicity to revisit these people, who are not very happy with her, let’s be honest. We left that open-ended on purpose, for sure."
There's a popular fan theory that Helix's founder will turn out to be Felicity's father, The Calculator. However, the explosive season 5 finale leaves us to wonder if Felicity even made it off the island alive. It stands to reason that at least one person on Team Arrow won't escape Prometheus' bombs unscathed and it's anyone's guess who that will be.
Arrow season 6 premieres on a new night and time slot, Thursday, October 12 at 9PM.
