BATWOMAN Season 2 Finale Teases A Classic Batman Villain For Season 3 And Reveals Kate Kane's Final Fate

The season 2 finale of Batwoman set the stage for Ryan Wilder to become the CWVerse's new Scarlet Knight on a permanent basis, while also teasing plans for her to face a major Batman villain in season 3.

Batwoman was left in disarray after Ruby Rose decided to leave The CW series, and rather than cast a new actress as Kate Kane, Javicia Leslie was recruited to suit up as a new Scarlet Knight.

The actress has done a fantastic job in the role, but with Wallis Day playing a brainwashed Kate who has fallen under the control of Black Mask (following reconstructive surgery), how did things wrap up in last night's season two finale? Well, the former Batwoman got her memories back during a battle with Alice and gave Ryan Wilder her blessing to become Gotham City's new Caped Crusader.

Meeting with Sophie, Kate later revealed that she's leaving Gotham to see her father Jacob, meet up with Supergirl in National City, and do whatever she can to find out what happened to Bruce Wayne.

After the Batsuit and Batcave are rebuilt, Ryan decides that the team needs to search for the Batman trophies Kate stole while still under Black Mask's control. Meeting with Alice in Arkham Asylum, Ryan learns that her mother is still alive, so that's bound to be addressed in season three.

However, the biggest tease came right at the end of Batwoman's finale when Batman's trophies washed ashore...including Poison Ivy's vines. They start to creep towards dry land, and the plan is clearly to have that villain take centre stage when the series returns. That should be a lot of fun, and it's about time the series finally made use of one of Batman's A-List rogues.

Check out what Rose told us about Batwoman when we spoke to her earlier this year:

I still think they should have just left Kate Kane dead instead of dragging out her storyline this long. However the ending was pretty predictable where she allowed Ryan Wilder to keep the mantle.

@FusionWarrior - yeah I don't see why they didn't just make Day the new Batwoman from the start instead of this storyline

@bkmeijer - because they saw an opportunity to diversify. Rather than naturally introduce a new black character along side Kate and allow her to establish her popularity the right way, like say Diggle (pre John Stewart arc), then give them the mantle naturally like they almost did in Arrow with Diggle becoming the second Green Arrow.... the Batwoman show runners saw an opening when Ruby left to write out Kate from her own first live action show in order to randomly drop this chick on us....

... because DIVERSITY! Right? Good job white people 👏

@ElricReturns - and thats to consider they already had Luke Fox on the show

@bkmeijer - right! Now they are DOUBLE DIVERSE!

What a disaster of a show. And this comes from someone who loves the Arrowverse.

Please cancel this and make a Batman Show like Superman & Lois! I hate how cheesy this show is.

@JonAwesome - The problem is, could u even set that new show in the Arrowverse now? Because Batwoman already cast Bruce right?

@Nightwing1015 - The way I've been thinking about it, they could either make an independent prequel to Batwoman. Considering Warren Christie's age, Batman probably had at least ten year long career before vanishing. They could make show set maybe 5 years prior to Batwoman, with Batman fighting his classic foes.

Other option is to lean more heavily to Superman and Lois. Seeing how haven't actually seen the real Bruce Wayne on screen yet, he could debut in Superman and Lois. First there would be a surprise Batman cameo to just introduce to this universe version of the character, like at what point of his career is he at, his relationship to Clark etc. Then a bigger appearance in some sort of World Finest episode, that would give much focus to Bruce and serve as backdoor pilot for a spin-off. The announce Batman, which then would by tone be closer to Superman and Lois than Batwoman.

It's actually funny, since Batwoman has established Bruce as missing, it would be the opportunity to do Batman show separated from Batwoman. Just have Batman (and his family?) be on a global mission to dismantle some huge criminal organization/plot. Like Court of Owls or Spyral. I'd watch that.

@Nightwing1015 - Superman and Lois recast Morgan Edge entirely. So it’s possible.

@DerekLake - Yeah but there's a big difference there. They managed to do that because of Crisis. The Batwoman show takes place after Crisis and Bruce is still missing. So I still think it'd be pretty hard to make it all fit.

@Odin - they could also just say Hush did a bad attempt at reconstructing his face to look like Bruce and cast a new actor.

Not that I mind Warren Christie though, but I do think Matthew Fox would make for a good tv Bruce Wayne too.

Not Poison Ivy, but maybe Poison Ivy's descendants. Her last experiment. A new plant with pods. So hybrids emerge. They have the DNA of Poison Ivy. She is the ancestor of a new race. Finally, the plant will grow until it becomes the epicenter of the new Garden of Eden.
