DOOM PATROL: TRANSFORMERS Star Kelsey Grammer Eyed For Lead Role In DC Universe Series
With the DC Universe set to launch in August and shooting on the Doom Patrol episode of Titans beginning soon, Warner Bros. is eyeing a big name to take on the role of Dr. Niles Caulder, a.k.a. The Chief.
DC Entertainment is currently looking to launch its DC Universe streaming service in August with a live-action Titans TV series and the current plan is for that to launch a Doom Patrol spinoff. Geoff Johns is working on the episode which will introduce those characters and the new show which will follow afterwards and we now have some news about who could play the team's bearded leader!
Before we get to that, though, here's a description for Titans' version of Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief:
"Eccentric, brilliant, paternal, and mysterious. The Chief is a noted scientist, wealthy investor and, of course, leader of The Doom Patrol. The Chief rescued each member of his team from horrific accidents, nurtured them to health, resuscitated their self-esteem and sent them into the world to defend a populace that sees them as little more than freaks. His disarming manner does little to conceal a steely determination and unwavering devotion to defending Earth from Evil’s oddest entities."
So, that sounds pretty close to the source material where he leads a group of superhero outcasts made up of names like Elasti-Girl, Robotman, Negative Man, Crazy Jane, and Cyborg. Now, That Hashtag Show notes that Frasier and Transformers star Kelsey Grammer is being eyed to take on the role of The Chief and while nothing is official as of right now, this would be fantastic to see become a reality.
