Fox's GOTHAM Will Have Another Hiatus But Will Return This Spring
Fox's Gotham TV show returns from midseason hiatus on Monday, January 16 but will be going on another lengthy hiatus soon thereafter- prolonging the completion of season 3 for a number of weeks.
Fox confirmed during the Winter TCA's that although Gotham is returning from midseason hiatus on Monday, January 16, the show will only continue to air new season 3 episodes for a few weeks, going back on hiatus on January 30. That means there will only be three new episodes before another long break as the show won't return with new episodes until April 24.
While multiple breaks and hiatuses occur every Fall TV season, kudos have to be given to the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. team for how they're handling their network driven interruptions. Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen knew that AoS was going to have three major breaks and thus, created three separate arcs (Ghost Rider, LMDs and a mystery third arc) to fit into each of their breaks. It's something that has definitely worked well for that show as ratings have remained steady and ABC 's President recently stated that she feels very optimistic about a season 5 pickup.
