GOTHAM Producer Says Harley Quinn May Have Already Appeared On The Show

Season 3 of Fox's Gotham will see several proto-versions of classic Batman villains make their debut. In the case of Harley Quinn, producer Ken Woodruff teases that she's already appeared on the show.

According to a Gotham showrunner, Harley Quinn may have already appeared on the show and is a character that fans have been watching for a long time.  At least that's the tease executive producer Ken Woodruff told IGN at yesterday's TCA Summer Press Tour.  "You may have already seen Harley as a person that you thought you had met and known for a long time. So we always reserve the right to sort of do that as well."

Selina Kyle actress  Carmen Bicondova apparently didn't know anything about that development, reacting with genuine surprise, "Ummm, I didn’t know that!"

It seems Woodruff may have revealed too much as his fellow executive producer, John Stephens quickly added, "the Harley Quinn of it all is a bit more of a sticky wicket but it’s one we’ve already thought about for the character. We don’t want to give too much away but it will definitely be someone connected to the Joker cult world that we have set up. But it’s down the road, later in Season Three right now."

It's obvious the show is looking to ride Suicide Squad's moment in the pop culture spotlight as the show will also be introducing a proto-version of Killer Croc "fairly early in season 3."

The question now is what previously featured character on the show could actually turn out to be the show's version of Harley Quinn?

Season 3 of Fox's Gotham premieres on September 19.

@CapBeatsBatman - I did it on my first comment ever!

Also...I wish they'd quit establishing EVERY villain before Bruce even becomes Batman, especially someone associated with Joker.

Too many characters for a prequel. I still like the show though. I would love to see a young Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne meet like in the Silver age comics. Wishful thinking but still too many Batman rogues for this show.

@NicolausCopernicus - Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I didn't like Smallville, but a lot of people did. Except for the last episode.

It depends on who you are. Like SMALLVILLE, GOTHAM isn't a show for everyone. It all depends on expectations and taste.

It's not meant to be exactly like the comic. Anyone who's going to be a purist is better off not watching it. This show is the Batman equivalent to SMALLVILLE.
