GOTHAM Showrunner Bruno Heller Confirms Plans For 'The Court Of Owls'

Gotham has so far been a little hit and miss when it comes to portraying the early years of the men and women who will one day become foes of The Batman, but things look set to take an exciting turn as Bruno Heller has now confirmed that The Court of Owls are coming...

In last night's season premiere of Gotham, we were introduced to Theo and Tabitha Galavan. While their end game has yet to be revealed, it's apparent that they have big plans for the city, but could they actually be under the employ of The Court of Owls? Showrunner Bruno Heller wasn't willing to confirm or deny that popular fan theory during a recent interview with ComicBook.com, but did reveal that the mysterious group will definitely factor into Gotham in the very near future.

"We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once,. The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne’s journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won’t tell you when."

Whether or not this is going to happen in season two of Gotham clearly remains to be seen, but there's a lot the series could do with The Court, especially as they existed long before Bruce Wayne became Batman (thereby giving the show a little more freedom than it has with characters like The Penguin and The Riddler). What do you guys think? Be sure to let us know your thoughts below.

Wow! Gotham is an amazing show. I like it the same as I like Daredevil, AOS and the Flash.

I think Supergirl will be a new favorite of mine

Snyder's biggest addition to the Batman mythos in my opinion are the Court of owls and the talons

I love the Court of Owls and would love to see it in live action, but I have no faith they can nail it on Gotham. A movie would be better.

As a fan of the television series and of the Scott Snyder comic books, this certainly sounds exciting until you actually start thinking about this. The entire Batman Family could barley beat the Court of Owls. How is the GCPD going to fight the Court, let alone a single Talon? The Court is way too over-powered for this series.

The Court would be portrayed better on film in my opinion. Give Affleck that storyline and you'd get something special

Out of all the stupid ways they have villains this one makes sense since they have been in Gotham way before batman but would like to see them in the shadows r just Easter eggs

I was quite surprised by Gothams season premiere. Not perfect, but set up interesting plot points and went down an interesting road. Hearing that the court is going to be an arc on this series is just great!

I bet that the Court of Owls will figure into the death of Bruce's parents in the show. They will play it as though the Wayne's were members and decided they wanted out leading to them being murdered by a Talon.I think that I would actually like that kind of retcon personally.

Makes sense. Bruce tries to find them as a kid in the books.

Court of Owls would be perfect for this new seasoned Batman. They should definitely be in the DCEU.

I think if Affleck makes Solo Batman movies this would be the perfect villain. We have had:
-Joker
-Two face
-Catwoman
-Bane
-Ras Al Ghul
-Mr Szazs
-The Penguin
-Poison Ivy
-Scarecrow

But something like the Court of Owls which could be handled in a more thriller way at the beginning blended with some horror and then action. Man, that would be awesome

As far as I'm concerned I think we've already been seeing subtle signs of the Court of Owls involvement behind the scenes in the first season. Of course it's difficult to point at any specific things and say you are certain that the Court is involved at that point. It's all speculation as is the case with conspiracy theories much of the time.

In any case I do not expect or want to see any completely obvious to all of Gotham that the Court is behind something at a point such as now when Bruce is still a boy and Batman is not going to appear anytime soon, but to say The Court has tentacles in all the power positions in Gotham including Wayne Enterprises at this point is not unreasonable to think.

A full blown Talon attack was something the entire Bat-family was challenged to cope with and so no such thing can happen during this show, but a single Talon assassinating someone and no one ever being able to figure out who did it is not. That would likely happen to anyone who endangered the Court though and James Gordon and Bruce Wayne are not seen as significant threats at this time.

So I expect that The Court manipulating things behind the scenes will continue and players who take the blame for thing won't even know that The Court enabled them to gain a position of power or that they were manipulated into a certain decision. This is a secret society of the elite who would like to groom Bruce to someday join their ranks. Think about who was responsible for his parents deaths and what goes on at Wayne Enterprises today.
