Following an all-out assault on the GCPD next week, it looks like the Joker's (Cameron Monaghan) reign of terror will continue all the way into the season finale on May 17th as he threatens Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) with even more death and destruction, which will force the future Commissioner to make a devastating decision.

Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) will have his own series of problems as he is forced to face a suddenly uncertain future while also trying to bring down Jeremiah by himself. Plus, one of the photos may have revealed that the finale will feature the introducion of a very familiar distress signal...

Watch the new extended trailer and check out nineteen new promotional stills from the season finale, titled "No Man's Land," below:

Not following this show, but daaam! those suits they design for this proto Joker are insane.

@LoganMjolnir - thats not the proto joker. This is the real joker. The one that fights batman.

Whereas Jerome felt like a combination of the modern media portrayals of the Joker (Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamill, and Heath Ledger), Jeremiah feels a lot more like the calmer and more calculating Golden Age Joker.

I wonder if we might see a version of the Silver Age comedic Joker, before getting the final incarnation of the Joker (the modern age comics' blend of the Golden and Silver Age versions).

Not confirmed. In fact, showrunner Danny Cannon recently stated "Well, I think that just spawned the conversation of the idea of it, of the Joker not being a one person, but like I said, it's a personality. It's a way of thinking. It's more powerful than just one person. I don't think that's just one person. I think that is a way of life, it's an ideology." Since everyone and their mother's kept insisting that Jerome would be THE Joker (despite it being debunked multiple times), you people should know by now not to jump to unfounded conclusions.

Given that Jerome's final words were "I'm not a man, I'm an idea" and that Jeremiah specifically acts like the Golden Age Joker, they might be going with a 'Multiple Jokers' scenario. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a Batman: Endgame and reveal that the mindset of the Joker has existed for as long as Gotham City itself.

Stop calling him The Joker. The series doesn't even call him like that yet but you always are like "Watch The Joker destroy Gotham in next episode".

Imagine if it turns out this dude isn't The Joker too.

Nightwing1015 - 5/4/2018, 4:49 PM
@UncleJanor - The difference is this is the real Joker. The producers have confirmed that. I imagine they don't use the title on the show for legal reasons.
Gothamiscool
Gothamiscool - 5/4/2018, 5:16 PM
@Nightwing1015 - they dont use the title because its a prequel. They use the name “The Joker” in the promo. They are allowed to use it. They just dont want to yet.

No... They didn't. In fact, showrunner Danny Cannon recently said (when asked if Jeremiah would be called "Joker"): "Well, I think that just spawned the conversation of the idea of it, of the Joker not being a one person, but like I said, it's a personality. It's a way of thinking. It's more powerful than just one person. I don't think that's just one person. I think that is a way of life, it's an ideology." That hints more at there being a 'Multiple Jokers' scenerio than anything else.

As a bonus - Jerome's final words were "I'm not a man, I'm an idea", and Jeremiah seems to act specifically like the calm and calculating Golden Age version of the Joker. Let's not jump to conclusions, like everyone did for four seasons with Jerome.

Gotham simply must be renewed. I don't care if it's on Fox or Netflix or even the CW. It deserves a 5th and final season.

@Nightwing1015 - I agree that it deserves a chance to redeem itself after this terrible season, but it's not looking likely at this point.

@Nightwing1015 - It's definitely getting another season. The producers have already spoken about their plans for season 5. But I do think it will be the last.
Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 5/5/2018, 7:38 AM
@rabid - It's not definite yet. The ratings are really bad at the moment and the show is very expensive. A few websites have it as likely to be cancelled. There was also a leak suggesting the cast and crew have been told to expect cancellation. I hope I'm wrong though.
rabid
rabid - 5/5/2018, 11:51 AM
@Nightwing1015 - the live ratings are meaningless these days. Virtually nobody watches live tv anymore, so Nielsen ratings are now accounting for streaming numbers. Gotham is a massive hit on streaming sites. Fox sells it to Netflix for 1.7 million per episode and to Hulu for 1.5 million. They also own a small stake in each company. Then they also get revenue from Amazon and Apple, and the ads on Fox's own streaming service. It's in no danger. Only a handful of Fox's shows (4 shows i think) have been officially renewed because they're still crunching numbers to determine ad prices. But if the Disney/Fox deal goes through (probably won't), then season 5 will surely be the last.
Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 5/5/2018, 11:57 AM
@rabid - I really hope your right, Gotham is my favourite show on TV.

You don't think the Fox/Disney deal will go through? Surely that will leave many MCU fans disappointed. I suppose Marvel will get their rights back either way.
rabid
rabid - 5/5/2018, 12:03 PM
@Nightwing1015 - The Justice Department is probably going to squash that larger deal under monopoly laws, but if that happens Fox would probably still sell them the marvel rights. It would just all get postponed. Personally, I enjoy the X films, so I would rather see them continue than reboot. The Cabal story line in the comics offers the perfect Thanos story line to combine the two universes into one.
TyrionLannister
TyrionLannister - 5/5/2018, 1:30 PM
@rabid - Surely if it was such a sure thing, then they would've easily renewed it by now. It got renewed last year when there were still five episodes left to air, but this year we're down to two, and still no word. And again, I hope we do get season 5, but a lot of things are pointing towards it not happening (a delay in renewal, poor ratings, Mazouz's message from when S4 finished filming). We should get a decision any day now, unless they're waiting to see how these last two eps do.
rabid
rabid - 5/5/2018, 6:47 PM
@TyrionLannister - Probably are waiting for the finale because those numbers are going to help determine ad costs for next season. They have to keep their ledgers tight while the merger with Disney goes through its hearings. None of those network execs know what the future holds.

Honestly, I haven't been this excited for a Joker since Heath. That being said, I accepted Jerome as another "version", but it always felt slightly off. This version though- woah! Kindom Come stylized, with a calm and calculated demeanor, that is still thoroughly maniacal! He is impressive! Now if we can only get Ras to train "Lil Batman" and get this thing rebooted after season 5 and make it real! It has all the parts in play to introduce the Year One version for a season six reboot. My two cents...
TyrionLannister
TyrionLannister - 5/4/2018, 5:35 PM
That scene of him sitting in the jail cell is probably how the season will end. Wish Fox would go ahead and make up their minds about a 5th season, but I guess they're waiting to see how these last couple of episodes do. BTW, this latest episode had the worst ratings yet (1.94m), so another season seems even less likely now.
rabid
rabid - 5/5/2018, 7:15 AM
@TyrionLannister - Live ratings don't matter so much anymore. Most viewers watch Gotham later on streaming apps like Hulu, which Fox owns a 20% stake of.
