This isn't the first time Max's Harley Quinn has fired shots at the SnyderVerse, but the show's latest episode decides to take aim at Zack Snyder's moody approach to filmmaking courtesy of Poison Ivy...

Harley Quinn is one of DC's most popular TV shows, and the fact it never shies away from poking fun at the wider franchise has proven to be one of its most enjoyable aspects.

Not everyone is okay with that, of course, especially for anyone uncomfortable with making fun of themselves. For example, a season 2 episode featured two male characters wearing "Release the Snyder Cut" and "The Last Jedi is Not Canon" t-shirts as they whined about Harley Quinn not including enough Batman.

Season 4 is currently streaming on Max, and in the show's eighth episode, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are tasked with preventing the apocalypse. However, upon returning from 2048, they discover a Gotham City where the colour palette has been muted after the sun was blotted out.

To that, Ivy exclaims: "F*ck, we're gone a few days and the Synderverse people took over."

In reality, Lex Luthor is once again at fault, but this humourous jab at Zack Snyder's DCEU movie will draw a laugh from many fans...and likely incense a few others. The SnyderVerse has become the butt of several jokes in recent years, with even Barbie taking a shot at the Snyder Cut's release.

In season 4 of Harley Quinn, the title character "[sets] out on her own after her break-up with The Joker. With help from Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley attempts to work her way into the Legion of Doom, before an identity crisis sends her on a larger quest to find her true place in Gotham City."

Plenty of DC fans point to Harley Quinn as an example of how this character should be portrayed in live-action, particularly when it comes to her romantic relationship with Poison Ivy. Margot Robbie is expected to reprise the role in live-action as part of the DCU but that hasn't been confirmed.

This show was ok the first season but it keeps dropping off on entertainment value each following season. I would like to see Hailey Cockcow in a sexy Harley Quinn costume though.
DarthAlgar - 9/2/2023, 10:16 AM
@slickrickdesigns - There's a specific reason for that.
DiegoMD - 9/2/2023, 10:49 AM
@DarthAlgar - What´s the reason?
dagenspear - 9/2/2023, 11:01 AM
@slickrickdesigns - You mean Kaley Cuoco?
slickrickdesigns - 9/2/2023, 11:24 AM
@dagenspear - both of them. I thought they were the same person. Isn’t that her porn name?
WhatIfRickJames - 9/2/2023, 10:14 AM
“ but this humourous jab at Zack Snyder's DCEU movie will draw a laugh from many fans...and likely incense a few others”

That’s the point of this article isn’t it
Origame - 9/2/2023, 11:58 AM
@WhatIfRickJames - pretty much. Like, this isn't even the first time jokes have been aimed at snyderverse.

The bane on the show is basically a giant jab at tdkr but you don't get articles about that here.

Whether people agree with or like the adherents to the Snyderverse or not, that studio at some point is going to have to make peace with them. They are a passionate and vocal part of the DC fan base and the constant attacks on them only make things worse for the studio as recent box office performances and the negative response to James Gunn has proved. I personally believe that the Snyderverse - beginning with BvS - is the primary reason for the state of the current DCEU. But I don’t know what the wisdom is in many people referring to people that did enjoy those films and that trajectory collectively as “toxic” or a “cult”. It has never changed anyone’s mind and has worsened the divide among the fan base. Its fine for WB properties to make fun of that, but they should be making just as much fun of themselves because at the end of the day the buck stops with the leadership.
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/2/2023, 10:41 AM
@Forthas - Funding the Snyder Cut was the studio trying to make peace with them, bringing back Henry Cavill was trying to make peace with them...but they want more, and more, and more.
Forthas - 9/2/2023, 10:47 AM
@TheHumanSpider2 - So the appropriate response is to attack them because they want more? Still don't see the logic.

I am sure you want more money or a better position in your job, should your boss start harassing you if you express that?

Not sure if you are old enough to have kids, but if your children want more of anything is your response to punish them for wanting more?
dagenspear - 9/2/2023, 10:59 AM
@Forthas - It's not an attack to make a joke about the Snyderverse.
Forthas - 9/2/2023, 11:13 AM
@dagenspear - If the studio's properties are making fun of it repeatedly then one could argue it is an attack. People like to couch their attacks in the "It was just a joke!" veil but many people will see right through it. It could be that it is an innocent joke but in the broader context I can see why someone would think otherwise.
bobevanz - 9/2/2023, 11:37 AM
@Forthas - it's like My Little Pony bronies, it exists but we don't have to acknowledge the insanity
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/2/2023, 1:42 PM
@Forthas - No, attacking them is funny
dagenspear - 9/2/2023, 2:38 PM
@Forthas - I think hardly.
pyramosteu - 9/2/2023, 10:32 AM
Snyder films look like old Instagram filters
Feralwookiee - 9/2/2023, 10:55 AM
@pyramosteu - You mean piss filters.
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/2/2023, 1:42 PM
@pyramosteu - *Vero
LimeD - 9/2/2023, 1:46 PM
@Feralwookiee - Still can't believe this and the Jolly Rancher shit made it into that movie. Hilariously bad.
Feralwookiee - 9/2/2023, 1:52 PM
@LimeD - Oh wow. I totally forgot about that scene.
*cringes*
TheSuperMex - 9/2/2023, 2:57 PM
@Feralwookiee - I still can’t believe someone thought of putting a jar of piss in a superhero movie, especially one with Superman, was a good idea.
Feralwookiee - 9/2/2023, 3:07 PM
@TheSuperMex - That scene was just so dumb and almost unintentionally funny that it became surreal for me.
There's just so many strange and dopey choices in BVS.
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/2/2023, 10:42 AM
Although the "all men are dumb" jokes get repetitive at points, this season so far is A LOT better than the previous ones.

About the jab at Snyder...the entire Bane character is a jab at Nolan, and people didnt expect the show to make fun at Snyder?
IvanBadski - 9/2/2023, 1:56 PM
@TheHumanSpider2 - and yet there is no whole article dedicated to the fun making of Nolan, I wonder why...
GhostDog - 9/2/2023, 10:58 AM
This show recycles a lot of the same jokes now
TheHumanSpider2 - 9/2/2023, 1:43 PM
@GhostDog - I really like the show, but...yeah
ModHaterSLADE - 9/2/2023, 11:56 AM
Feel the show was better when Harley was working with her gang instead of the Bat Family.
Himura - 9/2/2023, 1:22 PM
This show takes a shot at everything DC makes almost every episode. But I Josh just cant help to stoke the flames with Snyderverse stuff and DC hate.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 9/2/2023, 1:52 PM
Oh I get it cause the colors are all dark and washed out just like a Zack Snyder movie hahaha. How do they think of this stuff?
WarMonkey - 9/3/2023, 7:37 AM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Was funnier in 2018 when Deadpool made the same joke but did it 1st. This just seems lame to copy that
WelcomeBackFrank - 9/2/2023, 2:03 PM
[frick] this show.
Godzilla2000Zer - 9/2/2023, 2:44 PM
Well at the very least My Adventures with Superman was awesome as [frick].
AnthonyVonGeek - 9/2/2023, 7:02 PM
Wow this show is sooooo edgy
WarMonkey - 9/3/2023, 7:36 AM
DC's future looks bright! This strategy of constantly attacking, antagonizing and mocking a large portion of their paying customers who are hungry for more content to give their money up for is brilliant. A studio mocking it's own characters and universes is so much fun and really really gets me interested in more of these characters and worlds. When the studios and people running and working for them have so little respect for it's customers and IPs it really gets me excited for the future stories, yay. J/K

I liked Man of Steel, hated BvS and Justice League and really enjoyed the Snydercut and thought his Netflix zombie movie was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen, so I'm not a Snyderbot btw. If the people in the studio and working with DC characters don't care about them and see them as nothing more than things to laugh at or mock then I'm not interested in their superhero universes.

Sidenote: DC animated really sucks now too, I don't think they are capable of making good stuff anymore with whatever is going on there behind-the-scenes
