Harley Quinn is one of DC's most popular TV shows, and the fact it never shies away from poking fun at the wider franchise has proven to be one of its most enjoyable aspects.
Not everyone is okay with that, of course, especially for anyone uncomfortable with making fun of themselves. For example, a season 2 episode featured two male characters wearing "Release the Snyder Cut" and "The Last Jedi is Not Canon" t-shirts as they whined about Harley Quinn not including enough Batman.
Season 4 is currently streaming on Max, and in the show's eighth episode, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are tasked with preventing the apocalypse. However, upon returning from 2048, they discover a Gotham City where the colour palette has been muted after the sun was blotted out.
To that, Ivy exclaims: "F*ck, we're gone a few days and the Synderverse people took over."
In reality, Lex Luthor is once again at fault, but this humourous jab at Zack Snyder's DCEU movie will draw a laugh from many fans...and likely incense a few others. The SnyderVerse has become the butt of several jokes in recent years, with even Barbie taking a shot at the Snyder Cut's release.
In season 4 of Harley Quinn, the title character "[sets] out on her own after her break-up with The Joker. With help from Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley attempts to work her way into the Legion of Doom, before an identity crisis sends her on a larger quest to find her true place in Gotham City."
Plenty of DC fans point to Harley Quinn as an example of how this character should be portrayed in live-action, particularly when it comes to her romantic relationship with Poison Ivy. Margot Robbie is expected to reprise the role in live-action as part of the DCU but that hasn't been confirmed.
