Brandon Routh Confirms That Ray Palmer Will Lead The LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

After consistently stealing the show on Arrow, Brandon Routh talks stepping up from hero to legend in the CW's new superhero spin-off, revealing that his character, Ray Palmer, will "really help gel" together the team of White Canary, Captain Cold and more.

Based on the first promotional image and trailer for the CW's Legends of Tomorrow (and previous hintings), it certainly felt like Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer would be front and centre in the spin-off. Speaking to ComicBook.com, the actor confirmed that that he will lead the outlandish group of heroes (and Rogues), but will retain the character's energetic and light mood in Arrow over to the new show. "I think he’ll have a similar purpose, bringing the comedy as well as the superhero stuff," he explained. "But I think Ray will tend to be a little more of a leader of the team, having been a businessman and running Palmertech, being a billionaire, he knows how to bring people together and have them work as a team." Are you looking forward to seeing more of the Atom (and the rest of the team) in Legends?

Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter must assemble a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat to the planet…and to time itself. DC's Legends of Tomorrow is coming soon to The CW.

That's cool, Brandon Routh is an awesome performer, he was a fine Superman in a terrible film, and in Scott Pilgrim he was entertaining.

Routh deserves it, he's great as Ray Palmer.

I'm a big Atom fan from the comics, and I think he's terrible as Ray Palmer, the billionaire direction they went with him is stupid, and the costume is complete garbage.

The Atom suit looks like garbage. I was hoping they'd upgrade it before he got his own show.

I love him as Ray Palmer. He's the highlight or Arrow. I don't get why the writers write his character so well but do such a horrible job on arrow, diggle, detective lance, and speedy.

I think it was a given he'd be the lead. He is one of the better actors in this universe after all. I do hope Hawkman shows up some how. Seeing Atom and Hawkman teaming up is always a great one.

He deserves it and think his suit looks cool. Pretty damn cool for a network tv show if you ask me. I mean, compared to the Smallville costumes, these costumes are a huge step in the right direction.

Flash was a success because it's the Flash. The spinoff worked because people knew the character. A Flash show would've worked without Arrow as the frontrunner. I didn't start watching Arrow until I saw that Deathstroke was showing up. This Legends spinoff is a bunch of no name heros no one has heard of. Arrow wasn't great till powers started popping up. Non nerds won't watch the new show. Still like Routh though.

@ClosetNerd
No name heroes? You do realize before the first Iron Man movie, most people considered Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow as B-list superheroes right? Then you have the Guardians of the Galaxy which even less people knew about.

Hell Marvel even admitted this themselves but now these are all house hold names that everyone knows.

@Himura Before 2008 Cap, Thor and Iron Man were A listers to comic book readers, just not pop culture icons like Batman, Superman and Spiderman similar to Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter. People vaguely knew of them but had no idea of their backstory, powers or personalities. Hulk on the other hand you're completely wrong about. Hulk was a figure of pop culture referenced and known to the mainstream audience for decades.

people need to stop comparing atom to iron man and ant man cause he is clearly ted kord mixed with antman's powers and blue beetle's suit.
