LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: Zach Braff Hopes To Play Ted Kord Opposite Donald Faison's Booster Gold

Scrubs alum Zach Braff has said he would be open to playing Ted Kord, a.k.a. Blue Beetle, in Legends of Tomorrow following the reveal that his best friend, Donald Faison, has been cast as Booster Gold.

In Legends of Tomorrow's recent season 7 finale, Scrubs alum Donald Faison boarded the series as a character who is clearly meant to be Booster Gold. Should the DC Comics series return to The CW for an eighth season, the actor is expected to suit up and become the Waverider's latest time-travelling crew member. Could he end up being joined by a familiar face?

The second Faison was added to the show's cast, Scrubs fans started throwing around the idea that Zach Braff could play either Ted Kord/Blue Beetle or voice Booster's robot companion, Skeets. The Cheaper by the Dozen star would later express an interest in making that a reality on the duo's Fake Doctors, Real Friends podcast, and Slash Film recently got some additional comments from Braff.

"This keeps coming up and I want you to tell all your followers: I am down to play Ted Kord. Whoever owns the property. It's DC, right? Probably part of the BerlantiVerse. He's one of the first people who ever hired me," the actor enthused. "But yeah, Donald said that everyone [is saying that I should be Ted Kord]. I don't follow comic books. I'm sorry. I know people love them. I don't know anything about it, but yes, I'm here to announce that whoever owns the property. I'm down to play Ted Kord."

Honestly, this would be perfect casting, and the fact that Braff is open to the idea bodes well. Legends of Tomorrow hasn't been renewed yet, but the expectation is that the show will return.

The addition of Booster Gold is a huge deal for the series, and marks his live-action debut. Faison is a great choice, and while there's certainly room for Ted Kord on the team, Braff's voiceover work in Bojack Horseman makes us think he would be an ideal candidate for Skeets in the Arrowverse.

Wow. For a second I got excited thinking Ted Kord was going to pop up in the Blue Beetle movie. Then I read the headline. CW really knows how to ruin my mood.

@OldMan - same which makes me wonder if DC would do a Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) and Booster Gold movie. It could be comedy gold; like a good buddy cop movie

@Arthorious - They never let any show feature them over almost a decade since 2013 because they claimed they had plans for the characters in the DCEU. They've literally done nothing with them. If they aren't then they should just let the tv shows use them at last.

'his live action debut'

Was Booster never in Smallville? I thought he was.

Edit: Googled it. He was.

@TheManWithoutFear - Yep, Josh is terrible at things like this. Shoot even in the original article where they announce Donald being cast they bring up Smallville. "In an investigation details matter." #Reacher

Actually wouldn’t be the worst casting in the world. Their dynamic i. Scrubs did give some strong Blue and Gold energy

@AmazingFILMporg - I love the general vibe that Pugh grew up watching Scrubs, got a crush on Braff and then once her career broke out she just went for it.
