PEACEMAKER Twitter Account Has Some Fun With The WHAT IF...? Hashtag; Takes A Shot At Captain America

The Twitter account for the upcoming Peacemaker HBO Max series has been having some fun with the hashtag for Marvel's What If...?, using it to take a shot at the MCU's own Sentinel of Liberty.

If you've seen The Suicide Squad, you'll know that John Cena's Christopher Smith is a bit of an asshole, and whoever is running the upcoming HBO Max Peacemaker spinoff's Twitter account is fully embracing it!

The first episode of Marvel's new animated series What If...? hit Disney Plus yesterday, and The "Peacemaker on HBO Max" account has been sending out a series of Tweets with the #WhatIf hashtag, one of which takes a little jab at Captain America. This is hardly a surprise since Peacemaker was actually created as a twisted parody of Steve Rogers, and clearly himself as a "Sentinel of Liberty."

Check out Peacemaker's Tweets below - but be warned that one of 'em might be considered a SPOILER if you haven't seen The Suicide Squad!

Peacemaker will also star Danielle Brooks, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Robert Patrick and Chukwudi Iwuji. Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that the series will explore the origins of Cena's titular DC Comics villain/antihero, a man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.

Gunn is writing and directing the show, which was ordered to series last September. No official premiere date has been announced, but Peacemaker is expected to hit HBO Max next January.
