DC Comics Now Looking To Bring SUPERGIRL To Television As Well

Next? Supergirl! According to a new report, DC Comics are actively looking to bring Superman's cousin to the small screen with producer and comic book writer Mike Johnson attached. Read on for details!

There was a very interesting Easter Egg in Man of Steel which pointed to Supergirl becoming part of the DC Cinematic Universe, but does Kara Zor-El's future actually lie on the small screen? If Bleeding Cool are to be believed, then yes, as DC Comics are said to be actively pitching Supergirl as a TV series. Producer Michael Green is said to be attached both in that role and as a writer, and his credits include Gotham, Heroes, Smallville and the Green Lantern movie. Interestingly, he also worked on the Supergirl comic book during the early days of "The New 52" reboot. We'll have to wait and see for now, but The CW would certainly make a good home for the character if it means she meets up with The Arrow and The Flash! What do you guys think of this news?

@BungCarpet
Did your children just get hit by a car or something? I can't believe you wasted the time to type that in when you could have been calling 911 or something...

Anyways... this is what I've been hoping for! All this talk about female superheroes and no mention of my favorite one until now!

Bring back Laura Vandervoort!

If they make a Supergirl show it probably won't be connected to the DCCU.

Sure, why not.
Most of the Arrow fans will watch it, so there's a small but good enough market for it.

If the special effects are good, I guess it could work. I'm curious how they'd do it without Clark Kent if it's not connected. They'll just make Supergirl the Cw-Verse's Superman?

How do you have a Supergirl show with a TV budget?? And without much Superman??
Obviously if they're pitching it they must have ideas, but I dunno about this one. Seems a little ambitious for TV.

Supergirl on TV O_o
Yeah, good luck with the flying. Unless they go the Smallville route and have her earthbound, which would...

...suck tremendously :(

Hmm, I guess it could work in a TV budget, just wonder if it will be its own thing, connected to the DCCU, NBC/DCTVU, Fox/Netfilx/DCTVU, or CW/DCTVU.

CW would be the perfect home for a Supergirl series. With all the drama-romace kinda studd. (Which I have absolutley no problem with, once it's well balanced with action & good story telling)
I don't care whether it's connected or not. Year ago we had superhero tv show, none was connected, no one made any arguements. But now that Marvel has done so, people think that that's the way everything should go. Where is your creativity. Marvel is fine the way it is... DC DOES NOT have to follow same pattern. I would much rather have a connected DC TV universe & a connected DC Movie universe...
But keep on pumping out live comic book interpretations, both DC & Marvel

Don't see a point when we already had Smallville. Give another hero a chance to be in the spotlight. Also does anyone know if that Hourman show is still in the works?

You can't have Man of Steel FX expectations, but Lois and Clark worked reasonably well 20 years ago. If it's on par with The Flash, it could be pretty great.

This is the only TV-show that i think that they should do connected, in terms of have a prequel show that is based on the prequel comics

YES

(though a cartoon would be even better. Fewer limitations)

and who cares which universe its in. It's Supergirl!

Wait, a writer of "Gotham, Heroes, Smallville and the Green Lantern."? NOOOOOO.

Literally all of those things have terrible qualities to them. WHY would they get that guy?
