After a strong premiere, Supergirl continues its sixth and final next week with another major installment as Kara (Melissa Benoist) finds herself imprisoned in the Phantom Zone with no way out, a dire predicament that nearly brings Alex (Chyler Leigh) to her breaking point.
Meanwhile, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) is forced to make a decision about just how far she'll go to bring her brother Lex (Jon Cryer) down once and for all.
On another note, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Kelly Olsen (Azie Tesfai) will be taking on the Guardian mantle from her brother (Mehcad Brooks) this season. Co-showrunner Jessica Queller tells them, "That [has] been our plan since the beginning of creating that role," said Queller. "We just wanted to find the right context for it, and so it just evolved really beautifully in the context of the social justice stories we wanted to tell [in season 6]."
As for who Kara will face in her final season, outside of Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer), co-showrunner Robert Rovner teases, "We have several villains this season. We have Jon Cryer who's back as Lex Luthor. He's in the beginning of our season. He's intent on finishing up his master plan from season 5 once we start things out, and then he'll return later in the season as well. And then we have two other big bads for the second half of the season, which I can't talk about."
