SWAMP THING Has Been Cancelled By DC Universe Less Than A Week After It Premiered

DC Universe has cancelled Swamp Thing less than a week after it debuted on the streaming service.

The decision to axe the show follows a reduction in episode count from 13 to 10, which reportedly occurred because of creative differences relating to how the first season wrapped up. The completed episodes will air, but Abby Arcane and her big green pal won't return for a sophomore run.

Apparently, there are also "questions about the role of the year-old DC Universe in parent company WarnerMedia's larger streaming plans."

Whatever the reason for the cancellation, this is not going to sit well with fans of the Earth Elemental, who responded very well to the first episode. The show's second hour was also highly praised by critics.

The news was first reported by GWW before being confirmed by the trades.

Update: Ugh...
