Expect Some Big Changes For Grey Damon's Mirror Master In Season 3 Of THE FLASH

While fans will finally be seeing Mirror Master's live action debut this fall in season 3 of The Flash, executive producer Todd Helbing has revealed that a big change is in store for the character...

Though he regularly contends with super-powered foes, The Flash also has to deal with The Rogues, a group of low-level criminals who use technology to commit crime. The CW's Flash television show has done well in adapting the Rogues to a live action setting, having introduced Captain Cold, Heatwave, Golden Glider, and the Trickster among others - though one particular member has been notably absent from both seasons: Mirror Master.

Fans were overjoyed to learn that Grey Damon would be playing the character in season 3, though it has now been revealed that his "powerset" will be altered. According to executive producer Todd Helbing, Mirror Master will not be using his classic mirror gun to warp himself in between dimensions. In fact, he won't travel to other dimensions at all! "[Mirror Master] doesn’t use the [mirror] gun,”  Helbing said in an interview with TV Line. “He’s a true meta, but he’s not necessarily warping into other dimensions.”

The decision to make Mirror Master a metahuman is certainly odd, though not entirely out of left field, as the show made the same creative choice with Weather Wizard in seasons 1 and 2. However, with the show making a "gold gun" a possibility, it seems a little strange that they couldn't do the same for Mirror Master's weapon.

Would you have preferred a more classic Mirror Master, or are you satisfied with the show making him a metahuman? Sound off below!

I'm pretty sure a tv budget can not showcase mirror master power set

@da23aa24 - Actually, Mirror Master's power set is probably one of the easier ones to put on display, especially in comparison to some of the other rogues.

@da23aa24 - what? It's a person going in mirrors and then a mirror dimension that could really just be something simple like a big dark room with mirrors

those would be easy as hell compared to a giant cgi shark

Seems like a C-level charachter. Not much of a threat, but I'm not too knowledgeable in the Flash Universe.

@CWBNGAJEEPGUY85 - Mirror Master is pretty damn classic as far as the Rogues go.
DonDave
DonDave - 9/8/2016, 4:47 AM
@CWBNGAJEEPGUY85 - He's much more than that. He can create mirror clones of himself, turn people into mirrors and shatter then and he can send people to pocket dimensions and destroy them.

@CWBNGAJEEPGUY85 - Actually I like the idea of a meta version mirror master.

A whole team of "gun powered" villains would be so corny and redundant. Not to mention it makes the villains not cool or unique at all, just their weapons. Give the gun to someone else, bam, new mirror master!!

At least this way the villain has the power, and is therefore a real foe worth facing.

Yeah, the Rogues aren't that. Like, at all. There's a lot more to them than just being guys with guns:

The Rogues, compared to similar collections of supervillains in the DC Universe, are an unusually social group, maintaining a code of conduct as well as high standards for acceptance. No Rogue may inherit another Rogue's identity (a "legacy" villain, for example) while the original still lives. Also, simply acquiring a former Rogue's costume, gear, or abilities is not sufficient to become a Rogue, even if the previous member is already dead. They don't kill anybody unless it's necessary.

@DonDave - oh. Thanks for the lesson. I'd never heard of the character and laughed at his name. Now I know!

@MattBellissimo - I didn't know that. But now I do! Thanks for the lesson. His name just didn't seem like much of a threat, but @DonDave schooled me in on his powers and abilities.

@ReverseFlasher - That's funny, back in the 90s, The original Mirror Master didn't use a "mirror" gun or he was a meta, he use holographic disks on his wrist. But won't hurt to feel him out.

do you watch these shows? They sometimes have budgets over 10 mil per episode.

@ReverseFlasher - no, a show like the flash would have a budget of less then five million per episode

@JustAChillFan - i heard supergirls pilot cost 14 mil, and whether its 10 mil or 5, the point remains the same; there is not a budgetary issue with using mirror master and his power set.

@LEOSTRATOR - Just seems weird that they make the other Rogues gun-toting villains and not him. He's a fan favourite, so to make him a meta that seems like Mirror Master in name only is odd.
LEOSTRATOR
LEOSTRATOR - 9/8/2016, 5:14 AM
@MattBellissimo - Wasn't he a meta in the Nu52? It'll probably still turn out alright.

@LEOSTRATOR - They altered the Rogues to be metas for a bit, but then depowered them.
