CODE 8 Star Robbie Amell Is Open To Returning To THE FLASH, But Would He Play Another Superhero? - EXCLUSIVE

Robbie Amell had a memorable run in The Flash as Firestorm, and in a new interview to promote Code 8, the actor tells us that he is open to reprising the role or playing another superhero altogether...

This Friday, Code 8 starring Robbie and Stephen Amell arrives in theaters and On Demand. Set in a world where 4% of the population is born with varying supernatural abilities, these "Specials" face discrimination and live in poverty, often resorting to crime. That's where Connor (Robbie Amell) comes in as he's forced down a dark path in order to pay his mother's medical bills.

Lured into a lucrative criminal world by Garrett (Stephen Amell), the gangster helps Connor sharpen his powers in order to execute a series of crimes while a militarized police unit hunts them down.

Many of you will remember Robbie's memorable stint in The Flash as Firestorm, and when we had the opportunity to talk to the actor about Code 8, we made sure to ask if he'd consider a DC TV return!

"I love everyone on The Flash and I would go back if they'll have me and I'm available. The only problem is that they have so many characters now and such an amazing cast that all deserve their own time so, you know, I don't want to step on any toes. If it ever called for it, I would be there but it's great to see Danielle [Panabaker], who I love, directing episodes now and just the success the show has had...I'm very lucky to have been a part of it at the beginning. You never know!"

We also asked Amell if he'd be interested in playing any other comic book characters, and while he's open to the idea, it sounds like he need a break from superpowers! "As far as other superheroes, I did The Tomorrow People with superpowers, I did Firestorm, I did Code 8...I feel like I need to play a "normie" for a while. [Laughs] That being said, I would definitely play another superhero!"

It would be great to see Amell's original Firestorm back in The Flash, especially as it feels like his character has some unfinished business after he disappeared into that wormhole in the season one finale. For now, though, Code 8 is an absolute must-watch if you want to see the actor in action.

went to see a late night movie for something to do and Code 8 was the only one playing.
for a blatant rip-off of x-men paired with the acting chops of the Amell bros, it was surprisingly not terrible. i suspect most people on this site would not regret watching this once it hits digital release.

@nibs - calling it an x men rip off is pretty short sighted. Especially since all they have in common is power discrimination.

@Origame - lol you mean the main point of like, every x-men movie? are you also forgetting this movie has sentinels

@nibs - its not even the same kind of discrimination. Do you think homosexuals experience the same kind of discrimination as minorities and mexican immigrants?

@nibs - ill word it a different way. Hows it the same thing to have one movie revolve around a group of people being taken in trucks to do manual labor and being profiled by law enforcement the same thing as another movie where politicians are passing legislation on a group of people for their perceived danger?

@nibs - my point is, when the actual argument you make for one being a rip off of another just saying they both have powers and discrimination, thats a pretty weak argument.

@Origame - lol you are describing precisely one (1) scene from each movie

@nibs - dude, im describing the plot. Amells character turns to a life of crime because the world is like that and the mutant registration drives the decisions of both the x men and brotherhood for the first 3 movies. Do you want me to keep going with how they have nothing in common?

@Origame - ah yes, these are actually 2 completely different stories about people with superpowers being forced underground by institutionalized oppression enforced by giant robots. my mistake.

if you'll excuse me, i have to create a story about toys that come to life when no one is around. it's completely different than toy story because uh, the toys have to get jobs

@nibs - if the plot of your toy movie was them getting a job, then yes it would be. By your logic all superhero movies are superman rip offs. What, iron man is just superman if instead of being a powerful alien hes a guy with a robot suit.

If they can bring back the character of Jason Rusch from S1 they could come up with a new version of Firestorm.🤔

Firestorm was all the way back in season one? That’s crazy. Feels like it was later than that to me.
