Deadline is reporting that Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash) and Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon/Vibe) have decided to exit The Flash as series regulars after the completion of the currently ongoing seventh season.
Cavanagh has already completed his contract, with his last appearance as a series regular occuring in episode three, Mother," in which his character sacrificed himself in order to help Barry launch the Artificial Speed Force.
He was originally slated to end his run on the DC Comics series at the end of season six, but due to the global coronavirus outbreak and subsequent production shut down, ended up delaying his plans. He'll appear as a recurring guest star later this season, but details on his final apperance are being kept under wraps.
As for Valdes, his last appearance as a series regular has been set for the seventh season finale, which will complete his current contract obligations.
Showrunner Eric Wallace, in a statement to DHD, said the door's always open for either to return down the line.
“Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons, and will be greatly missed. Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. Which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances.”
Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash) has already been contracted for season eight, but talks with both Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen) and Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Frost) are still ongoing. Both are expected to return, but it's obviously a fluid situation.
