TITANS Season 3 To Premiere This August On HBO Max As The Cast Hypes The Dark And Mysterious New Direction

According to Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop and the rest of the cast of Titans, the show's third season will be "Dark, mysterious, exciting and heartbreaking" when the series moves to HBO Max this August.

After releasing its first two seasons on the now-defunct DC Universe, the third season of Titans will debut this August on HBO Max. Highlighting this intriguing shift in platforms, the cast of Titans hyped the show in the teaser below.

In season 2, the show saw the demise of Donna Troy, although it was hinted that Raven's ever-growing powers may eventually reach a level where she's able to bring her back. The second season also saw Cadmus and Lex Luthor lose control of Superboy, and it's likely they'll be looking to recoup their loses in season 3.

While the first two seasons of Titans were hit and miss, many DC Comics fans are hoping that the shift to HBO Max will iron out some of the wrinkles. While streaming on DC Universe, the show clearly wanted to be a dark and gritty TV-MA drama yet remained in TV-14 territory as way to attract a wider audience. Fans are hoping that the move to HBO Max will result in the show fully embracing its adult undertones.

In addition to following up on Starfire's storyline with Blackfire, season 3 will also see Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake and Scarecrow appear. With season 3 premiere just a few months away, expect new footage to be released fairly soon, likely in the coming weeks.

This show didn't start out dark and mysterious? What was that first season I watched then?

@DaHyro - Oh. Oh! Subplot is flashbacks of Batman and various Robins and their "training."

So went from dark to lighter back to dark while also cramming in multiple storylines, many of which could fill a short season like they have just fine on their own.

Titans really was the worst of the DC universe shows

1.Doom Patrol
2.Swamp Thing
3.Harley Quinn
4.Young Justice
5.Star Girl
10.Titans

Dont know if ill watched, tried rewatch sesson 1 and 2 recently but heart just wasnt into it. Show has so much good in it but its such a sloppy package

Seriously between this show mostly being focused on Nightwing and the Batwoman show.....why is it so hard to build a good show on lets face it the most interesting group of characters in comics (The Bat Family)? You could build a cinematic universe just around them if you wanted

@dracula - I think it’s because shows like Titans think Batman is all edginess and darkness and no heart (also, bad casting and bad dialogue), while Batwoman is trying to be Batman without Bruce Wayne and Gordon and Joker (who holds it all together) while also leaning too heavily on the Sleepy Hollow aspect of Gotham city, so it just comes across like a very poor knockoff.

@DerekLake - They’re very imbalanced approaches to Batman’s world, and they seem intent on remaining as such. Well, Titans also has no business focusing so much on Batman’s world. There are so many more interesting things for that show to do.

Considering I had no beliefs beforehand that this would be a good show, what I did see was a bit of a surprise. Not great of course but it wasn't a waste of time to watch the two seasons. Hopefully the upcoming 3rd season will be much more to everyone's liking, especially with the move to HBO Max.

Every season of this show is some new direction. And how are they gonna make it any darker from season 1? Stop half ass-ing the characters and storylines, that would be a bold new direction for this show.

Not sure how I feel about Titans beside the fact that I thought Doom Patrol was a much better show.

dracula

@grif - or send him to Doom Patrol. They either have a bigger budget or manage it better. Maybe they would actually have him be green

@dracula - Agreed they need to just give Garth to DOOM PATROL he'd thrive with that cast and writing team

I would prefer an HBO Max Show connected to the DCEU and starring the immature Superboy. A comedy featuring characters like Dubbilex, Roxy Leech and Bizarro.

And the 3rd season of Doom Patrol drops a month later.
