The first trailer for season two of Titans featured plenty of big reveals, but we didn't get to see an awful lot of the returning Starfire. Played by Anna Diop, the character's appearance in the first batch of episodes was met with something of a mixed response from fans and while it was meant to be a disguise of sorts, the character kept that costume and hairstyle from pretty much start to finish.

Well, the actress has now shared an official look at Starfire as she will appear in the second season, and, as you can see, she's wearing a new costume and sporting a brand new appearance.

It feels a lot closer to the comic books, and while it still isn't a superhero costume as such, it's bound to make fans quite a bit happier than what they saw in those first eleven episodes. In terms of how her powers were portrayed, Starfire was a hit, and it will be interesting to see where she goes next.

Check out the video of Starfire's new look in the player below:

Are people still butt hurt about diversity casting of this character??! If you are...grow up! This is a good change for the character - costume wise! I liked her character arc in the last season - will be interesting to see she goes now!

That is all...carry on racists and bigots..the floor is yours! :-)

@OptimusGrime - I dont really care who played her but I wish they wouldve gone more alien with the look, gone with the orange alien skin color but I didnt have as much trouble getting over that as I did with beast boy becuase I really hate how they just gave him green hair.

@OptimusGrime -
Most of the complaints were aimed at the hooker costume, which is somewhat understandable.

She dressed like a hooker in the comics, but she actually looked like an extravagant princess from another planet :/

There is a minority of people who complained about the actress being black, which is just dumb. Starfire isn't white, she's an orange alien from the planet Tamaran. Those don't even exist...

@OptimusGrime - I don't remember many people being upset with her being played by a black actress. The character isn't white, she's an alien, so that argument doesn't even hold up. But they definitely should have given her orange skin. People were also mad that Beast Boy didn't have green skin. And her clothes were a friggin ' nightmare in season 1. Those are very valid complaints.

This just looks like leather pants, but it's still worlds better than season 1.

@CorndogBurglar -
I think some people just get anxious when a casting doesn't match the exact idea of the character they had in their heads.

The very few people who complained about her being a black actress probably pictured a white, Latina, or Asian actress in the role. Comic book fans can be picky sometimes.

For instance, Giancarlo Esposito could probably make a cool Lex Luthor or Riddler. But could you imagine the backlash of a black guy in the role?

@OptimusGrime - not sure why you’re throwing out the racist and bigot card here (which are horribly overused these days). All the uproar I read from CBM users was the utter shittiness of her season 1 costume and wig which made the character look like an 80s-era Hell’s Kitchen hooker. Clearly, the costume department got the memo about how terrible the character looked and improved upon the costume.

@Darkknight2149 - I totally agree, and know exactly what you mean. Admittedly, I'm probably one of those fans lol. I want the characters to resemble their comic book counterparts as closely as possible.

Having said that, every character is different. With Starfire being an alien with orange skin, I'm not real sure why anyone would have any thoughts of her being a while person. Granted, the comics show her with more white or latina facial features outside of skin color, but thats not really all that bad when talking about an alien. Its kind of like people saying Goku needs to be played by an Asian actor in a Dragon Ball movie, even though he's not even from Eart lol. Maybe thats a double standard on my part? I'm not sure.

Either way, where they failed for me was not giving her orange skin, though. And her clothes, which they've seemed to have made better.

@OptimusGrime - You don't want race to be an issue, but you were the first one to bring race up... and then you call everyone that posts afterwards a racist and bigot. If the white privilege is eating you up that badly, just get some counseling or something.

@NathimusPrime - i agree with the beast boy argument - they really dropped the ball i felt and utilised him quite poorly visually. They could change it for next season and open up his power set so he can change into more animals (because its just the one atm right??!) but the debilitating factor of being able to multi change is that his skin stays green? Im okay without the Orange skin - ultimately theyve said that its an alien inhabiting her body right?

Lol some people have very selective memory. I clearly remember people complaining that they hired a black woman. A lot of people wanted her to be Latinx for some reason.

@Darkknight2149 - Yeah i hear you - do you think they shouldve gone with a more revealing costume?? I kind of understand why they went the route they did. Something like the above might have been a bit much no?
OptimusGrime
OptimusGrime - 8/9/2019, 6:22 AM
@CorndogBurglar - Im definitely glad they changed the costume. BUt havent the gone down the route that an alien is inhabiting her body rather than her being outright alien? Plus maybe the bright orange might not have transitioned onto screen well?
OptimusGrime
OptimusGrime - 8/9/2019, 6:28 AM
@GeneralZod - Maybe yes i threw it out a little early but i can remember when she was cast - there were a lot of people querying the decision based on her skin colour and it really irked me. Felt completely unnecessary and offensive. I can of understand the route they went with the costume but of course it could have been better and as you say...its looks to have improved.
OptimusGrime
OptimusGrime - 8/9/2019, 6:35 AM
@bs77 - Of course i dont want race to be an issue but you and i BOTH know that it IS an issue (IN CBMS and the world sadly)... so why hide the fact?? Should i shy away and let the racists come for me first? Nah brother ...im calling out these people for who they are when the character was first cast. To be clear i wasnt calling "everyone" that posts afterwards racists or bigots.....JUST the racists and bigots..yah feel me dawg?

@NegativeNerd - exactly my point! a lot of stupid complaints

Remember how [frick]ing good Swamp Thing's suit looked like? Even Stargirl's suit looks great. Makes the costumes from Titans look that much worse - considering other DCU shows have had much, much better costumes.

@tmp3 -
The only ones that were bad are Starfire, Beast Boy, and Trigon.

Robin, Doom Patrol, Superboy, Wonder Girl, Hawk and Dove, Aqualad, Raven, and even Batman's shadowy figure all look spot on.

@Darkknight2149 - idk, I like Doom Patrol's suits but even Robin's suit looked like PJ's. I feel like every DCU show has care put into it outside of this one
