Find Out What Lyanna Stark Whispered To Her Brother Ned In The GAME OF THRONES Season 6 Finale
The audio from Bran's pivotal flashback scene in Sunday's Game of Thrones season finale has been enhanced, revealing (most of) Lyanna Stark's final words to her heartbroken brother. SPOILERS ahead...
The season 6 finale of Game of Thrones finally confirmed the long-standing fan theory that Jon Snow was not actually the bastard son of Eddard Stark, but his sister Lyanna and (presumably) Rhaegar Targaryen.
During the powerful flashback scene we see the dying Stark girl ask Ned to promise to take care of the boy, though most of what she whispers to him is too low to decipher. But, thanks to Games Radar enhancing the audio, we have a much better idea of her final words.
"His name is .... If Robert finds out, he'll kill him. You know he will. You have to protect him. Promise me Ned. Promise me."
Robert is obviously the new king Robert Baratheon, but what about Jon's true name? Though we can't make it out on the audio, a Reddit user reckons she's deciphered it after watching the scene "fifty times at least", and claims it's actually Jaehaerys.
Since both previous Jaehaerys Targaryens to sit the Iron Throne were considered good/wise rulers, it makes sense that Rhaegar and Lyanna (who was probably in love with the man accused of "stealing" her away from Robert) would name their baby after them. Of course it also makes sense that Ned would want to give the child a less Targaryen-sounding name, and would have gone with Jon - most likely after the man who had become like a father to him, Jon Arryn.
Just a theory... but a very interesting one. What do you guys think?
