GAME OF THRONES: Richard Dormer On Season 4, Flaming Swords & Beric's Resurrection

Beric Dondarrion is one of Game Of Thrones' most mysterious characters, and seems to have emerged as something of a fan favorite despite fairly brief appearances. In an in-depth interview with Flicks & The City, actor Richard Dormer discusses the role.

In the following video interview, Dormer discusses his character Beric Dondarrion, and covers everything from his incredible (and genuinely grueling) battle with The Hound which resulted in his death and resurrection, to his belief in the "Red God" and what he thinks of the seemingly wicked Melisandre. He also talks about where he sees Beric's "Brotherhood Without Banners" ending up in season 4.

"In the wake of the Red Wedding, how does the North pick up the pieces and with their greatest enemy seemingly crushed, where does that leave the Lannisters. Daenerys Targaryen now has an army but is she ready to take back her homeland. Does Jon Snow turn south to seek revenge or remember his duty along the Wall?"

That's very clear from you complete misunderstanding of it.

Seriously though, giving something a chance and not liking it for whatever reason is one thing, but how anyone expects to have their opinion on something they've never even seen taken seriously is beyond me.

@bravado Give it a try someday, you'll be surprised by how good that show is. I usually dislike the fantasy genre, novels or movies, it's just not my thing, but that series is so good it made me read the books (which are even better). I was hooked by the 3rd episode and am now eagerly waiting for the 6th book to be released!

Being unreasonably judgemental and overly confrontational is Bravado's schtick...

Dev7, there were really only 2 big shocking moments over 3 seasons..and I don't think they were out of context at all..after all the show is just following what happens in the books, and they are most certainly not lazily written. The first thing was necessary to advance the plot and actually resulted in most of the separate story strands for each character spreading out from it. The second..well you've yet to see the implications of the Red Wedding but I assure you it was not just done for shock factor.

@dev the worlds and the characters are so complex and imaginative! the interest for GOT derives from much much more than what you call "shock events". Maybe i'm biased because ilove the books (never imagined that fantasy could be so beautifully written, again i'm not usually a fan of the genre) but still, calling it "lazy writting"...

@bravado. ok now i get it. It took me five years to watch LOST for the same reasons. and what a load of shite that was :)

Isn't it sad that things can be so popular others will pretend they don't care just hoping that it makes them appear to be different or not fit the status quo.

@Bravado - Why click a link to a show you actually have no interest in. Get some friends, ask them for attention. No one here will remember you .

@Dev7 - I wish I needed to say more than you strike me as a child. Lazy writing? The book was written to have such twists and shocks. To draw in those who wanted to fear for these characters. It's fine that you don't understand things like character development, or caring about what happens in the story, but readers/watchers that do don't do so because they're simple minded. Your attempt at mocking an entire fan base off of your inability to understand that some people enjoy drama in their stories is pathetic.

I'll be REALLY pissed if Cersei doesn't die next season.

At least, they better put that little mother[frick]er called Joffrey far far away from the crown.

I just hate that kid.

@intruder

Ok, then.

So let's just wait and see wich series will be remembered as a mark in recent TV History.

Oh, BTW. I LOVE Game of Thrones. I just happen to like BrBa a little more cuz I can only remember ONE episode that a "filler" one. In FIVE [frick]ING SEASONS!!

Game of Thrones already had like 5 "fillers". In 3 MOTHER[frick]ING seasons.

But overall I like GoT better than The Walking Dead.

Still hate SO MUCH that they killed Andrea.

House of Cards is great also... but, oh snap!!

It's a Netflix show...

Damn, I feel sorry for David Fincher. He should give back his Emmy for best drama directing.

@Bravado: That's because that one comment was dismissive and arrogant and meant to attract attention, which it ironically managed to do. If you ever watched something and judge it nonetheless we can't trust your reviews of other things, you understand? It also mlakes your review a joke because it's essentially based on nothing. Of course you won't get what people like abiout the show if you haven't watched it and grown attached to the characters. Also, reviewing it in such a dismissive way is bound to create a reaction...Well, it's too late now but maybe it'll teach you not to write something before thinking it through in the future. it'd be like mer eviewing all seasons of Breaking Bad and dismiss it because I don't like how it looks witout ever having watched a single episode.

Anyone who has seen Good Vibrations (movie of the year IMO) would know that Richard Dormer is an astoundingly good actor. I was lucky enough to see him on stage once playing Alex Higgins in Hurricane - nothing short of spellbinding. Having actually met both Terri Hooley and Alex Higgins just brings it home how stunningly good he is.

I'm with intruder on this. Game of thrones is easily the best show on television. Followed by homeland and boardwalk empire.
