As season three begins, the Lannisters hold absolute dominion over King's Landing after repelling Stannis Baratheon's forces. Yet Robb Stark, King in the North, still controls much of the South as well, and has yet to lose a battle. In the Far North, Mance Rayder has united the wildlings into the largest army Westeros has ever seen. Only the Night's Watch stands between him and the Seven Kingdoms, but nobody knows what happened to its Lord Commander and the force he led beyond the Wall. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen - reunited with her three growing dragons - ventures into Slaver's Bay in search of ships to take her home and allies to conquer it.

If that was a boring episode, you must not have watched The Walking Dead finale.

tonight's episode was good but nothing special. A few weak points but I like where they're going with it.

@ Beatnation: "Shame of Clones"? I don't... what? You don't just rhyme nonsense words and call it mockery. Put some effort into it.

And no, neither was terrible. GoT always starts with two or three "set-up" episodes -- nature of the beast. You need to set up your dominoes before you can knock them down... which is exactly what TWD was doing, in case nobody noticed. They were just setting up for next season rather than this one.

I reckon TWD has dragged on since the break...

When people find any episode of a show boring because it focuses on plot, character and narrative then I know what kind of dumb action movies make up their entire collection.

I agree with Ceejay...good tv and film is not all about CGI and explosions. Granted, those things are nice, (they showed a freakin' giant, man) but the real payoff in a show like GoT has to be discussed and setup before it can be truly awesome. Take the Battle of the Blackwater last season. They spent several episodes discussing this coming battle and preparing for it...and it was an awesome payoff.

Valar Dohaeris was very good because for once it focused on character devlopment instead of plot. It sets up the stage and I don't know what some people were expecting frankly. You all know that the first episodes set things up so they can build up to the great moment at the season finale. I have also heard that each episode gets better apparently. So if this episode is great I can't wait for episode 4 :).

i really don't get the hate for game of thrones season premiere, its trying to set up the storylines for the rest of the season.episode 2 will be another set up episode.

the walking dead season 3 was building to this huge conflict between rick & the guvnor then nothing, the guvnor's people got shot at by glen & maggie & retreated, two against what twenty-five.

bit of a letdown for me.
