Zach Snyder (Frank Miller's 300) will direct the Watchmen movie, a long-anticipated project that has previously been in the court of Terry Gillliam, Darren Aronofsky, Paul Greengrass and David Hayter and three separate movie studios.

Snyder will direct from a script by Alex Tse which will adapt the 1985 Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons' maxi-series.

It remains to be seen how Snyder and Tse will make the subject matter (costumed super-heroes act like villains in the face of global nuclear destruction) work for the big screen.
