This new vision of Michael Crichton’s film comes from J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot, Person Of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan, producer Jerry Weintraub and Warner Bros TV. Nolan directed the pilot for the series, which is described as a "dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin." Westworld stars stars James Marsden, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, James Marsden, Kyle Bornheime and Thandie Newton.

I watched the original again on Amazon Prime [free trial] the other week.
It's a brilliant concept and narrative under-used in the 70's script and I'm hoping they give it a great twist and proper storyline without messing it up by being too clever or postmodern. 2015/16's better VFX should make it interesting too - but make no mistake it's going to be the writing that makes this [hopefully] great TV.

I'm hoping JJ Abram's involvement will be good, but a big name is by no means a guarantee of success. JJ Abrams' sci-fi TV series 'Almost Human' was a flop and cancelled after one short season, and Spielberg's 'Falling Skies' has been kept going but has had a pretty luke-warm reception.

Ideas they could explore / might go with;

# The usual 'replicant' becoming self aware / is confused or shocked whether they are real or not. (Bladerunner)

# Human's being used in some way to populate or augment the android poplation. (Disney's The Black Hole)

# Morality and tourists accidentally killing fellow tourists [in the original there were safeguards like the guns wouldn't fire on real humans].
