Agatha Harkness Rumored To Be Bisexual In AGATHA: COVEN OF CHAOS (And We May Know Who Her Girlfriend Is)

A new Agatha: Coven of Chaos rumor suggests that the show's lead character, Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness, will be revealed as bisexual in Disney+'s upcoming WandaVision spin-off. She may even be married!

Understandably, many fans have questioned why Agatha: Coven of Chaos is happening. We know former Disney CEO Bob Chapek wanted to produce as much exclusive streaming content as possible, something that hasn't really paid off for Disney+.

The streamer now finds itself in serious debt amid a decrease in subscribers, leading to the returning Bob Iger spearheading some big changes...including fewer Marvel and Star Wars TV shows.

This WandaVision spin-off may well have been part of an approach to storytelling which has seen just about any and every character given their own small screen spin-off. However, that doesn't mean it won't be a must-watch.

In terms of representation, it sounds like this show will be a major step forward for the MCU.

According to scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, Agatha Harkness will be revealed as bisexual in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. The Cosmic Circus' @AlexFromCC would later strongly hint that Aubrey Plaza's character is either the witch's girlfriend or wife in the show.

If so, this will mark the first time Marvel Studios has put an LGBTQ+ character front and centre in a story. They've been widely criticised for how that's previously been handled (with it largely feeling like surface-level inclusion at best) so we're excited to see where this leads.

As for the wider story Agatha: Coven of Chaos will tell, we anticipate it revolving around Agatha tracking down Billy Maximoff who, like his comic book counterpart, has now been "reincarnated" as Billy Kaplan. Mephisto is also expected to appear.

The show's supporting cast will feature a number of familiar faces from WandaVision, including Emma Caulfield Ford (Sarah Proctor), Debra Jo Rupp (Sharon Davis), David Payton (John Collins), David Lengel (Harold Proctor), Asif Ali (Abilash Tandon), Amos Glick (Dennis), Brian Brightman (Sheriff Miller), and Kate Forbes (Evanora Harkness).

New additions include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia.

Agatha: Coven of Choas is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.

@WhatIfRickJames - All I'll say is the entire goal of inclusion and diversity is to reach a state of normalcy. Meaning, it should be normal for a LGBTQ character, or an actor of color to be in a movie. But we will never reach that level of normalcy as long as we keep treating it like it's abnormal. Like making a big deal about it. If you want a diverse/inclusive cast, just do it. Directors, scoopers, and news outlets need to quit making it a big deal. You don't ever hear anyone making a big deal about a white actor being in a movie. Or a heterosexual character. Why? Because it's normal. So stop talking about all the others like it isn't normal.

@bobevanz - Why would a racist be in here talking crap about Agatha being bisexual? Is bisexuality a race now? Lol

@CorndogBurglar - you’re spot on with your commentary. It will never be normal if we continue to hype representing LGBTQ+ as a big deal. It’s not. It was when Ellen came out on her show.

@CorndogBurglar - It’s a nice enough sentiment and all but it’s not realistic. That’s not how people work, you can’t just wish them or scold them into such behavior. The only way is through. As long as there is money to be made from clicks then articles will continue until there aren’t enough clicks to make them the money they are trying to make.

@TheUnworthyThor - Oh, I know that. It's really no longer about people genuinely wanting diversity and inclusion. Now it's all about back patting (Hey! Look what I did! I included a gay person in my movie! I'm so progressive!) and like you said, gaining money from news stories and clicks.

I recognize all of this. But if we really wanted these things to reach a state of normalcy, I think what I'm saying is the way to go. But thats just my opinion.

@CorndogBurglar - Here's the thing, though. The works themselves don't always "make a big deal out of it" and the actors, producers, etc, get asked questions about it so of course they say they are proud of the representation, etc, etc. Phastos's family in Eternals wasn't presented in the movie itself as a big deal. It was presented as normal, exactly as you are asking it to be. If this web site wants to make it a "big deal," that's on them.
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 8/1/2023, 10:20 AM
@CorndogBurglar - While I disagree with that first paragraph but my bigger point was we can hem and haw all we want about articles like this and it won’t matter. The general acceptance or as you put it normalcy is inevitable. We just have to go through these intermediate steps. No real way around it.

@ptick - Thats why I'm not only blaming actors and directors. I also called out scoopers and news outlets.

This is Phastos erasure.

WakandanQueen
WakandanQueen - 8/1/2023, 6:55 AM
@ptick - Eh, would you say Phastos was front and centre in Eternals?

Can make an argument about Loki (even when taking into account there was only verbal refrence to him having male lovers in the past) since the series did depict the gender fluidity of the character, as he is the only one to have variants of various different genders (amongst other things). Deadpool is next up, if rumors are true.

@WakandanQueen - Hopefully we will get so see him turn into a mare in season 2.

I could do without the birthing scene though...

ptick - 8/1/2023, 10:00 AM
@WakandanQueen - Phastos is an Eternal. He was central to the plot. He didn't DIE or leave the group at the end of the movie. His home life was shown, including his husband and son. I guess Agatha would be the first solo lead? But Phastos was a pretty big deal.
ptick
ptick - 8/1/2023, 10:01 AM
@WakandanQueen - Probably also worth noting that while Eternals did not make typical MCU money it's a 100% lock that more people have seen it than will ever watch Coven of Chaos given the D+ show trends.

Cool.

I’m sure this comment section will be civil and not in anyway want me to shove my head through a spike…

Anyway , it is kinda funny and cool that the character whose last name was taken for Captain Jack Harness in Doctor Who will also be LGBT in her own live action incarnation aswell.

I'm going to use this article comment as a way to virtuously posture by making the assumption that homophobes will say mean things here. And by pointing that out ahead of time, I can pat myself on the back and hope that like-minded people will pat me on the back as well.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 8/1/2023, 8:15 AM
@TheFinestSmack - alternatively, you could just earnestly predict homophobes will say mean things here because you actually know that's what's going to happen (the homophobes are obsessed with this stuff, so they'll probably make it here before you can even type your prediction) and then you can take solace in being right, whilst other similarly honest people laugh alongside you because they made the same accurate prediction

The fun thing about being honest is that you never even think about "virtues" (you'll typically find that people who constantly talk about "virtues", "virtues signaling" and "pats on the back" are shitty people who find the concept of decency so unobtainable that they convince themselves that every person who advocates for decency is lying, which is a hilarious stupid way of telling on oneself)

And this epitomizes narcissistic personality disorder.

Also @TheFinestSmack it's [frick]ing true
