WandaVision ended with Wanda Maximoff becoming the Scarlet Witch. While a post-credits scene teased the Avenger heading down a dark path, we definitely didn't anticipate her breaking bad in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Essentially a full-blown villain, the Scarlet Witch murdered Earth-838's Illuminati in an effort to regain the children she lost in Westview and ultimately made what appeared to be the ultimate sacrifice after seeing the error of her ways. Fans noticed a flash of red light before that tower collapsed, of course, suggesting Wanda teleported away before being buried alive.
Talking at SXSW to promote HBO Max's Love & Death, Elizabeth Olsen shared her hopes for the Scarlet Witch in the MCU moving forward.
"We can do anything with her now! I feel like we've done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there's a lot more humor to be had with her," the actress said, clearly keen to move away from that dark path. "She's often the emotion of a story, and I'm curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption."
In a separate interview, Olsen was asked about possibly reprising the role in Disney+'s Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
"I don't know ever how to answer these questions, except I don't...I think I’ll be back," she said, seemingly confirming plans to reunite with Kathryn Hahn in the show.
Given her knowledge of the Multiverse and the fact the Scarlet Witch is a legit powerhouse, we're sure she'll be key in the upcoming battle against Kang's Variants. There are those who believe he even authored the Darkhold in an effort to take Wanda off the board, but whatever the case may be, the character definitely needs to find redemption.
