My Four Ideas for a Marvel, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Spin-Off show

After the recent successes of the Marvel properties Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, another spin-off series has been announced to be in development at ABC. Along with the recent Netflix release of a Daredevil series along with 4 other shows set to debut which introduce the Defenders team, the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be an unstoppable juggernaut (I can use that, FOX you don’t own everything X-Men!). Thankfully, Marvel is in no short supply of new characters and storylines that can still be brought to the screen, so here are my ideas for what could be an Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. spin-off show.
  • Nick Fury / Black Widow Prequel – If Marvel wanted to build off the things that worked for Agent Carter, which were giving fans a peak at how things got started, why not show us how two of the world’s best spy’s were created? This could be set in the 80’s and show a younger Nick Fury rising through the ranks of S.H.I.E.L.D. as an officer. The story could also involve HYDRA lurking in the shadows while also showing how Natasha Romanoff was found and rescued. The movies have hinted at the father-daughter type relationship between the two and this could explore how that came to be. Using the Cold War as a backdrop, the show could also lead up the Captain America: Civil War by not only showing the death of Howard Stark but also how fear can turn friends against each other. Dr. Faustus and Armin Zola could also make experiences as well as the Winter Soldier.
  • Hawkeye and the Secret Avengers – If the reviews coming from the test screenings of Age of Ultron are to believed, Hawkeye steels the show. Of all the Avengers his character has received the least amount of screen time so far, so it is good to hear that things are starting to change for Mr. Barton. With Civil War in mind as well as the recent reveal on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that there are actually two versions of the organization working independently, it seems that the seeds have already been planted for the Secret Avengers. In the comics the Secret Avengers were created by Captain America to operate in secrecy as sort of a ‘black-ops’ version of the Avengers. While the Avengers made the headlines and were under the watchful eye of the government, this team took orders from the Cap. If they could get Jeremey Renner to commit to a TV show (which the new dad might do), they could add Mockingbird, Deathlok and Lance Hunter from S.H.I.E.L.D., maybe even Maria Hill and Falcon too. While this may seem too similar to what Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is supposed to be, it seems that S.H.I.E.L.D. is going away from the villain of the week style and is more of a show with a season long plotline. The show would also be a good way to introduce Spiderman into the MCU...
  • Damage Control – In the comic’s, the Damage Control team are a team of powered and non-powered individuals who clean up after major catastrophes caused by meta-human incidents. They are even mentioned in the 2008 Iron Man movie after the final battle. While not a military force in the comics their duties did have them fighting alongside the Avengers and S.H.E.I.L.D. from time to time. If the trailers of Age of Ultron have shown anything, it is that a lot of stuff is going to be destroyed by a seemingly endless army of robots. This show could give us a glimpse at how the real, non-powered world reacts to these types of events and how ‘normal’ people coupe living in this world (similar to “Heroes” and “Powers”). The show could also highlight how the team rescues people and helps rebuild after disasters.
  • New Warriors / Avengers Academy – This one I almost did not mention, because I do feel there are a lot of parallels between the X-Men and the Inhumans so adding the Avengers Academy (which is similar to the Xavier Institute in X-Men) might be too hard for people to get behind. But, it does make sense that people who gain powers need a place to develop them and that subject has even been touched on during the Inhumans storyline on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This show would differ from S.H.I.E.L.D. by showing how the team deals with learning how to use their new powers in an environment where they can be accepted instead of having people around them fear them, while also helping save the world. The ones who work out form a team as the New Warriors while the ones that don’t get sent to the Raft (mega-prison). Finding people with powers and how to deal with them would also lead into the plotline of Civil War. You could even have guest instructors like Hawkeye, War Machine and Falcon pop in from time to time.

What do you think would be the best idea for a Marvel spin-off???

I think we are already getting a version of Secret Avengers with what's going on with AoS. That said I think there is tons of potential for a Deathlock show or some type of Grant ward killemall type show. I love that we can even think about stuff like this.

I would love anew Warriors/ Avengers Academy type show though. I mean the way that powered people are populating the MCU I think that show would be great. ya, Deathlock, New Warriors/Young Avengers/ Avengers Academy or Ward Being a Bad Ass shows would be great. Sword would also be fantastic but I think that's too much to hope for.

Thanks for reading everyone~!

Oh all, I actually like the Nick Fury idea the most. It could have the same tone as the Winter Soldier, which I really liked.

Ya, I think they would work on a Secret Avengers or Avengers Academy/New Warriors show. I do love the Mockingbird character, I am so glad they brought her to the big screen. I would love more B-level heroes like Moon Knight and Cloak and Dagger to show up too.

Thanks!

Maybe it's going to be a howling commando show.

It would be interesting to have Hawkeye and the Secret Avengers with Deathlok, Quake and Mockingbird on the team!

What I'm really hoping for is a Marvel Spotlight show. I want it to consist of maybe four or six episode story arcs so multiple characters can be featured in one season.
