EDITORIAL: Will The World Security Council Return On AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D?

In this editorial, I discuss the possibility of the World Security Council members from The Avengers showing up on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Have you ever wondered what happened to those shadowy, indecisive council members from The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Well, in this editorial, I breakdown who they are, what they are, and how they could factor into Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the long run.

Actors (and Actress) Powers Boothe, Arthur Darbinyan, Donald Li, and Jenny Agutter all portrayed council members in the first Avengers film, as well as having Jenny Agutter reprise her role as a council member, simply named "Hawley" in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I've been asking the question over and over, why didn't the other actors in The Avengers reprise their roles for Captain America: The Winter Soldier?  Afterall, every (see: most) actors signed up for multi-picture deals.

These four people (above) are council members that are alive in the MCU, the council members that appeared in CA:TWS have gone on to a better place, well.. Alexander Pierce killed them with the exception of Jenny Agutters character.

Now here's where things get a little tricky... With those Council members still alive from The Avengers, whose to say they won't show up to assist Coulson down the road in aiding him against threats?

The World Security Council are, as described by the fans as being:
"an international organization whose stated aims are facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace. The Council is comprised of several middle aged/elderly men and women."

That seems like something Coulson and his team would need down the road right? Seeing as Coulson is the DIRECTOR of SHIELD, he'd need some people of that stature to help him in the fight against Evil in the world. Although the Council is seen disagreeing with Nick Fury, and even diagreeing (and agreeing) with Alexander Pierce, they are the HEADS of SHIELD.

Now how could they factor in? Well they could persumably help Coulson get his footing, and, since the events of The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they'd need someone to trust, and vice virsa. The Council are postioned all across the globe. They have advanced security systems to hide their where abouts, and they are intellegent people who can make not so amazing choices but their hearts are in the right place.

I believe that after Season 2, when everything is said and done, Coulson and his team (his wider team of SHILED agents and under cover agents) will have SHIELD up and running as it was ages ago. Which would impliment the Council to come back and give orders to Coulson.

This all may be a big big stretch, but I'm hopeful that they show up, and that they're expanded upon, using them in a more positive light.

What do you think, CBM lovers? Do you want to see the World Security Council back in the fold?

Any suggestions as to how they could be introduced? Let me know by dropping a comment below!

@SonOfBatman

He mentioned that the ones from Winter Soldier are dead (with the exception of the female one since Natasha was wearing her face). He's talking about the original characters from Avengers (providing they weren't retconned as the same characters in Winter Soldier)

Doubt we will, as far as the world is concerned S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer exist. I think a form of the Illuminati will appear in the future, and they will be what the Council was supposed to be. Coulson would listen to Cap and others over politicians.

MCU Illuminati

Coulson, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Steve Rogers
Tony Stark
Dr. Strange
Bruce Banner
Nick Fury, leader of Secret Avengers

Obviously I think Cap will not be dying anytime soon, and Hulk doesn't get rocketed into the cosmos.

I also believe Fury creates a black ops squad to work in the shadows and do things Fury knows Coulson won't do.

MCU Secret Avengers

Fury
Hawkeye
Deathlok
Mockingbird,(turns out to be a mole Fury placed)
Maya Lopez,(becomes Ronin, guy can dream)
