Tonight's mid-season premiere episode of Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was titled "The Magical Place." During one pivotal scene in the episode, a sequence of mysterious images were passed on screen that seem to illustrate Agent Coulson's repressed memory of his own resurrection during what seems like a medical operation. The series of screen captures below should aid in speculating the method and persons in play behind the alleged resurrection. I will kick it off with some easy ones I picked out.

Theory #1: Clarevoyant has mysterious powers or familiar STARK technology. The Clarevoyant is the BORG ULTRON

Theory #2: Name stuff in the Marvel universe that is green and comes in tube form. Obviously A) Hulk juice or B) Skrull juice, or maybe even C) Ooze? Coulson is slowing transforming into Leonardo of the TMNT and this conspiracy is actually a retcon/spin-off/origin story to the new Michael Bay movie. Calling it now.

Theory #3: AontheheadStarontheChest pointed out that the blue liquid in the IV solution, could be Super Soldier serum or Alien (Chitauri?) blood.

Theory #4: Mysterious symbols are of alien origin and illustrate a solar system or are of a more celestial nature. Or this is pregnancy test. Coulson is pregnant

Theory #4.5: Jonylede pointed out the similarities to the symbols on the blackboard during the "Eye Spy" episode (shown above). I think this is a brilliant catch and a rock solid theory of plot relationship. Notice that the top left of the chalk-board image has a code layout very similar to the tick and circle layout in this Coulson-operation image.

Theory #5: This brief image of a star-burst within SPACE could be A) Reference to Chitauri worm-hole, B) Reference to G.o.t.G. ('Nova Corps' related?), C) Reference to Midgard or D) teaser for a J.J. Abrams movie.

Theory #6: This robot, seemingly being managed/monitored by the mystery woman, is part of ULTRON. Refer to #1 - ULTRON is trying to figure out the paradox that is Coulson's survival.

Theory #7: Four shadowy individuals are on the observation deck in the background of this sequence - One obviously is Director Fury, a second most likely Commander Hill. The other two individuals could most likely be S.H.I.E.L.D. or W.S.C. affiliated.

Theory #8: This procedure is either A) Copying Coulson's original brain or B) Programming (Coulson's) new brain in a new body. Notice how he isn't moving anything but his mouth throughout the procedure and doesn't seem to be restrained. Leaning on new brain because he seems like he started 'waking up' during the procedure as more and more of his consciousness was uploaded.

Theory #9: This mysterious woman speaks as if an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and may be one of the new characters introduced this season. Possibly someone Coulson will seek out.

Theory #10: Mike Peterson will become even more mundane unless he is provided additional cybernetic implants and becomes Deathlok.

The more I think about that scene with the exposed brain and machine, the more disturbing it feels.

I hope by the end of the season it fully explains what the deal with that scene was and who the Clairvoyent is.

What a disappointing episode. What exactly did we learn about Coulson's death; that the answer is just more questions? I guess LMD is out. They did mention the Cello playing girlfriend, which was interesting. I think there's something there, since Joss specifically added her reference to Marvel Cinematic Universe history.

I thought about Deathlok the moment I saw that last scene, too. One of the Deathlok's is named Michael Collins. I guess it doesn't matter who Deathlok is, since he's not popular enough for fans to have a fit over his real name and since there were like 4 Deathloks.

Looks like blue blood in an IV, alien or super soldier serum.

Also interesting is what the doctor said bout them giving Coulson the memory of Tahiti to help restore him to the man he’d once been instead of “that thing.” What thing? A Hulk thing? A Skrull thing? Swampthing?

aaaand...my theory: Coulson is now a Frankenstein between human and Chitauri bodyparts and organs. The "space scene" could be a refuse of the brain adaptation to the new part, a drift with the genetic memory of Chitauri. In FZZT we see that the Chitauri DNA is quit similar but not equal with the human, that difference could be restored with the "matrix droid"

This match also with the FZZT virus, that attack the brain of the ill person. Adapting the brain, "chitaurizing", for not reject. The Chitauri are bio-elettric creatures, that could match with the hint and the jokes of Coulson in the origin of the LMD theory.

@ROBBEATZZZ
don't worry, I'm pretty sure someone (seasoned CBM contributor) will make a duplicate article and that will get on main :).

@BADMUFFIN
I like your theory, but I hope it isn't true. The Chitauri Arc has served it's purpose, I want to them to take the opportunity to introduce new plot concepts.

I added your theory to the list

The clairvoyant should be the leader, aka (Mr blue) Samuel sterns. He may not be psychic but he is smart enough to discern it all himself

I strongly believe that the clairvoyant is Ultron. He has access to all kinds of systems worldwide from whence he can get information about anything. I came up with this when watching with my wife, and not from any internet rumors. Since a number of people independently think so, it must be that. I think it's leading towards Cap 2 and Avengers 2.

Those mysterious symbols remind me the formula on the board in the 4th episode "Eye Spy"

@jonylede

That's a very astute observation. I'm adding that to the list.

I'm also moving this article to "News" because it's B.S. that everyone is making editorials now and this topic is not getting a single reference.
