GWW broke the news that Alfred Molina will return as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 3, and the site's Editor-In-Chief, Casey Walsh, has now shared a very interesting scoop about The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. This is a little hard to believe, but it sounds like it was an idea thrown around early in production rather than something we'll see in the Disney+ TV series itself.
Apparently, early drafts saw "Sharon Carter becoming Captain Britain as a tribute to her Aunt [Peggy Carter]." He adds that, "[I] doubt this made it to the final version, as it doesn’t make much sense for an American to don this alias."
It wouldn't really make much sense for Marvel Studios to take Sharon in this direction, and an American taking over the mantle of Captain Britain...well, that would upset a lot of comic book fans.
The character has never been associated with this role in the source material, though there was a female Captain Britain once upon a time (and Betsy Braddock currently holds the title in X-Men).
Regardless, it definitely sounds like there are tentative plans in place to do something with the British superhero, which makes perfect sense when the Captain guards the Marvel Multiverse. If we had to hazard a guess, we might just see the Captain Britain Corps in the Doctor Strange sequel.
What do you guys think?
