We last saw Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter in Captain America: Civil War when she stole Steve Rogers' shield (and Sam Wilson's wings), and aided in the Winter Soldier's escape from custody. A lot of years have passed since then, but as we've learned in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, she remains on the wanted list.
This is despite the fact that both Sam and Bucky have been pardoned (alongside the rest of the Secret Avengers, we're assuming) for their role in breaking the Sokovia Accords.
Why is Sharon different? As VanCamp explains to Deadline, she'd like to know the answer to that question herself!
"She has not had the easiest of times. Even though she’s thriving in this environment, it’s not what she would have wanted. She’s very much seeking that pardon, that’s where we find her," the actress explains. "Based on what some of these other characters have done, and have successfully been pardoned [for], I think it’s shocking she’s still on the run, that she’s still this fugitive, living in Madripoor, dealing in stolen art. It seems shocking to me, and equally shocking to her."
Given some of Sharon's shadier actions in last Friday's episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, many fans are convinced that she's secretly the Power Broker. VanCamp knows better than to confirm or deny anything when it comes to Marvel Studios.
"I can’t talk about anything," she tells the trade, "but I do love the theories swirling around."
What do you think will comes next for Sharon Carter in the MCU?
