HAWKEYE: Andy Park Shares His Early Concept Design For Kate Bishop's Costume

Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park has taken to Twitter to share his early, more comic-accurate design for the costume donned by Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) in the Disney+ Hawkeye series.

In Marvel's Hawkeye, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) has a pair of matching costumes made for her and Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), which they unveil in the season finale. The outfits were quite similar to the ones the archers wore in Matt Fraction's run, but it seems Bishop's was originally going to look even more like the one donned by her comic book counterpart.

Concept artist Andy Park has shared his early take on Kate's costume before Rodney Fuentebella took over on visual development, and while it doesn't look a million miles away from the suit the character debuted on the show, there are a few significant differences. The bare shoulders are the most notable, but the overall design appears to be smoother and less busy than the final version.

Check out the artwork below and let us know which version you prefer.

I feel like of the four shows this one came and went without much fanfare, I mean at least people did not like falcon and Winter soldier, this one was barely talked about. Maybe it’s just me. I’ll check

@TheWalkingCuban - I thought Hawkeye was a pleasant surprise. Better than Falcon&WS. originally thought it’d be the most boring of the Marvel Disney + shows.

I feel there’s a bunch of karens in these production meetings who complain about too much shoulder being shown and how it isnt appropriate. Between kate and scarlett they rly going over the top trying to cover them up

@Matchesz - idk. I think the sexualization of characters in comics has its place in certain comics, I'm not sure any Marvel character need to show skin as part of their costume, save for like Mystique or a femme fetal character where sex appeal is actually part of the characters skill set.

But a super hero in the field who can take damage easily, or in video game terminology is squishy, they should be armored up. When a lot of these revealing costumes were made, it was a different time. They weren't thinking at all about film adaptations or being grounded or how it might play out as a grounded film 30 years into the future. The wilder the concepts in those early days of comics, the better. Sex sold and flashy designs were the staple. That's not the case for today's sensibilities, even before you address woke culture.

I'm not an avid woke culture person, but even I think it's ridiculous to be a barely dressed warrior with exposed, easily accessible vulnerabilities and weak points.

Wish she had the bare shoulders and goggles like in the other concept art.

Kate and Yelena's interactions with each other in this show was some of the best I've seen out of any MCU project. I really hope they pair these two up again in the near future.
