An Inhumans movie was originally part of Phase 3 but that was dropped from Marvel's release schedule and it was quickly turned into a TV series instead. It's believed that's because Marvel Entertainment boss Ike Perlmutter is a fan/obsessed with the characters and wants them to replace the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Unfortunately, the series is a critical bomb and ratings are in the tank.
During a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about the poor performance of the series and whether he either wishes he'd had the chance to make a movie based on the property or is glad to have avoided introducing Black Bolt and company. His response? Priceless.
I know you’re a huge Inhumans fan, and you lost that property to TV. Now, with that doing how it’s doing on television, do you look at that and go, well, maybe it’s best we didn’t do that one? Or do you still wish you had that property because you think you could have really knocked out of the park?
[Laughs] You’re breaking up, Mike. I can’t hear you. You’re breaking up…
The Inhumans could show up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but a second season seems highly unlikely when ratings are plummeting by hundreds of thousands each week. As a result, we can forget about the property being rebooted for the big screen unless it happens a good decade or more from now!
What do you think about Feige's reply here? As always, let us know your thoughts in the usual place.
